"Ah. You are very lucky." Mary's gaze fell on the path again. Anna was not patient and she didn't see any reason that Mary shouldn't fall into everything as easily as she did. Mary privately thought that's what made her so frightening- there wasn't anything human enough in Anna to feel uncertain or unhappy. Even if she could still cry prettily. "Mama forgets I have not already been out in society, I think. It would be funny if I wasn't so lost." She smiled. "There was a party last night though- I wonder if you were there? I've forgotten the host's name already, but there was a girl there- Lady Angelique. She said she's to be giving a grand ball sometime soon. Mama has said we will doubtlessly be going. Will you be there as well? I've never been to a real ball, and her ladyship said something like it will be a masquerade?"
