Georgina smiled at him. “I would have thought you were used to it by now.” She said lightly, looking back to her plate.
“My daughter has changed. She has...mellowed since last time you met and is becoming quite the dutiful young lady. I have no doubt if you acted now, proposed to her, she would say yes. I am sure she could give you a healthy heir, she is still young and I know she would take well to caring for your nephew. Her dearest friend is engaged to a doctor and Katherine has been immersed in his medical texts and most enrapt with his daily life so I feel she would fit well into the household.” Georgina said, realising she sounded more like she was extolling the virtues of a servant Augustus was interested in buying rather than attempting to set up a marriage between the two of them but she was not trying to set up a love match here. Augustus wouldn’t accept a young lady who did not meet the high standards he had and Georgina was not going to let a chance as good as this one slip through her fingers.
“Katherine’s dowry would be 19,000 pounds and a house within our estates. I’m afraid I cannot offer more without consulting my son. He is in charge of our finances now after all.”
“And...I suppose if you married my daughter I would come to live with you in your home .”
