Slater started to laugh and looked quite relieved - an actual expression she could see without the need to look behind a face of hair. "Your mother liked men with a bit of gruff... I just grew it, got used to it, kept it. Thought it gave me a sense of superiority..." And then he looked at himself in the mirror, his eyes widened and he gaped. "Bloody 'ell."
He ran a hand across his lip and up his cheek, brushing where the hair used to be. It was certainly a change. He didn't recognise himself. His eyes were possibly more prominent, as was his nose. As he studied himself he found that laughing was the best way to take it. "Cor... if I'd known I'd look this young I'd have taken it off years ago. Jimmy aint so unfortunate after all if he's going to take after his Pa if I do say so myself."
