Delia was terribly bored. Inclined to hang back in parties as she was, she usually did manage to snag herself at least one young man to keep her entertained, or perhaps a young lady that she could verbally pick apart, watching her as she tried not to burst into tears, but no one caught her eye. Or they had not yet, at least. If she could not find herself someone to save her from her boredom she would be forced to write off the entire evening as a loss, which would annoy her to no end as her occasional glances to her father and his whore told her they were having a good time. She loved her father, but he and his tart were not allowed to have a better time than she did. She decided she would have to be more proactive.
She was as charming as ever, her gown in the very same shade of blue as her eyes, dark hair done up in the latest style, jewelry and shoes matched in the seemingly effortless perfection she was known for. And her loveliness had not gone unnoticed, a few looks over her person had resulted in a few flirtatious conversations with wealthy looking, well-bred gentlemen. Unfortunately none of them struck her fancy enough for her to stay longer than a conversation, after all, she was looking for entertainment, not more work. Perhaps her recent stay with the major and his family had caused her to be more gun-shy than she would have liked to believe.
Grabbing another glass of wine, she moved to a spot where she could keep an eye on all that was going on. From there she decided to engage in her second favorite hobby: people watching.
