Subject: Wandering around London Who: David Hale, whoever wants to join in Where: a shopping district Warnings: None Open To: anyone
He was back in London. Christ, it didn't even have the decency to change. He glanced around disinterestedly and half-wished he was back with his men in India. Better there than this place. Good old home. Made a man want to shoot his own eyes out, it did. He paused in front of a shop window displaying some ribbons and baubles. Shiny was always a good thing where Diana was concerned. He wondered, not for he first time that day, how she would take the news of him being back. Would she come to town to see him? And if she did, what was likely to change exactly? She would listen to his tales and smile that sweet smile of hers, and in the end of it, she'd drive away back to her idiot husband and his hounds. The thoughts didn't sit well, but the picture of her reaction to a gift of a certain ribbon did, so he stepped into the store.
A couple of giggling girls to the side caught his eye and he tipped his had to them. They turned some fetching shades of pink and David smiled. Always good to know the uniform still got some respect somewhere. He turned his attention to the serious matter of ribbons a moment later. Blue for her eyes or white to set off that dress she'd written about last. The fact that he could understand anything about dresses and ribbons was entirely Diana's fault, but it had come in handy enough over the years he'd forgiven her.
The sound of someone coming in pulled his gaze up from the bits and bobs.
