"WHY should I get rid of her because you say so?" Slater bellowed, throwing the bed covers off as well to continue his rage. "You are so damned sure you want her gone and you haven't even talked to her! The minute you saw her in that bed you made your mind up, but I know more than you! I know HER! And you've no right to dictate who I keep in my household, NO right!"
Stomping around as he paced the floor Slater realised his whole body was shaking but did nothing to try and calm himself. His voice was no longer raised but full of anger. "You go away, promise me you'll be engaged, I get on with my life then you come back and treat me like I'm some phoney old man who doesn't know how the world works because your little plan failed to snare some rich man and you think you've finally felt pain. Well I have a surprise for you, Delia dear, I know pain. I know more than you do about life, I know people. I'd show you my world but you're too damn precious to me and I would never get you in harms way. Still, you don't seem to respect that. You say you love me but you don't want to see me happy. What woman would be right for me, Delia? What woman do you want to see me riding off into the sunset with?"
