As soon as he said 'bonny', she realised what he meant by 'up North'. Up North indeed. She turned to look at him yet again, blinking and tilting her head. "There must be a reason as to why you're hiding your accent behind that dreadfully dull English, but I can't for the life of me find it. I suspect it doesn't matter. Just know you don't have to pretend with me, sir." She looked down at the flowers and swallowed.
"Bonny Lalla would imply I am anything but insufferable, and I'm afraid that is all I am. My conversation is not the best, nor is my demeanor, and for this, I apologise but cannot make it change." She watched his face, holding out the blue flower with the missing petals. "Take it. It'll remind you of the lady you met in the park who was two petals short of a full bloom."
