When making a post to the community, please use the tag function towards the bottom of the screen. Into this please enter your characters first and last name in this format: joe_bloggs or marysue_marco. This will help other players find your posts.
Sometimes within the community there will be threads or plot-lines which may contain things that members or readers find unsettling. We don’t want to stop people from posting these things, so we have set up a list of warnings which can be added to posts as tags, in the same way you can also add your character's name. These are:
Incest- sex between people related by blood
Extreme violence- this includes murders/assassinations, beatings and physical torture. Fist-fights and duels do NOT need to be tagged unless you feel they are of an extreme nature.
Torture- Includes physical and mental torture
Rape
Dubious Consent- where persons are coerced into sexual acts
NC-17 Graphic Content- Strong sexual or graphic content
R Graphic Content- A step down from NC-17 rated content
Underage – where one or more of the characters is under the age of 16 is involved in a scene of sexual or implied sexual nature. This does NOT include kissing.
Character Death – some members and readers of the community do not wish to read scenes of character death. You do NOT have to warn for death of NPCs.
Posts will be tagged with "Plot" or "Character Development".
Plot is the tag to be used for threading, for developing the relationship between two characters, for furthering events in game.
Character Development can be for the furthering of a relationship, especially that of a family member or a romantic partner, or for a closed post which gives a history of back story of your character.
If your post does not fit either of these criteria, then it does not belong on the main community, but can be posted to your characters own journal.
All members have the ability to change or edit the tags of a post, and as such, if you wish, you can add your character's tag to a post when you comment, as this may help you later when searching for entries you have been involved in.
We also ask that 'logs' or threads completed over IM, for instance AIM, be posted on character journals rather than the main community, and that these too can be linked via a "fake lj-cut", but require the usual heading of "subject; who; where; warnings; open to;".
If you’re worried about any of this, please contact the mods.
If you are planning a thread which is porn, please keep it in your own journal but link back to the community using normal posting headlines. This does NOT mean all threads including sex should be kept from the main community journal. For example:
As long as plot not sex is the point of the post, it is relevant to the community.
You don’t have to know what sort of shoes were fashionable at the time, but glaring historical inaccuracies like computers, trainers, wristwatches, will earn you a telling off. This includes shouting your characters sexuality from the rooftops. It can be alluded to in personal communication but not spoken of in mixed company; remember this is 18th century
Don’t use chat-speak.
Don’t god-mod.
If you’re going to be away for the community for a while (especially if you are going on holiday) please let the community know (so we can all be jealous)
If you want to include/mention another played character please contact their player and check everything is okay.
If you have a problem with another player please contact the mods straight away.
You must play with a character journal, not your own personal journal.
No Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus.
No real historical persons please, i.e. you can play a character modelled on Byron, but not Byron.
Please don’t play fictional literary characters such as the Scarlet Pimpernel.
If you wish to play a family member of a character already established in the game, please contact them before applying. You can do this via the mods or leave a comment on their character’s journal. Please note there is a limitation of the number of characters you can have in game. That number is 8, so choose carefully.
If you have any problems with any of these rules, please contact the moderators over email and we will try to help resolve your concerns.
