a moment's reflection Subject: A quiet afternoon Who: Abigail Mountford-Miles Where: the family home Warnings: none yet Open to: Family, friends, anyone who might be wandering through the Mountford-Miles study.
Ah, solitude. Blissful quiet. She'd been hiding lately, hiding from her entire family. It wasn't something she'd ever done before, but lately it had been all she could do to stop herself from screaming. First Edith going all... odd, then Lysander resurrecting himself, and lately Eward was... well goodness only knew what Eward was up to. Come to think of it, perhaps goodness wasn't the right word, but still. It was all a bit too much change for Abigail's peace of mind and she'd done the one thing she could: hide until it was settled again. If she had learned one thing it was to keep her head down while the older children squabbled, though she'd never had to hide from all of them at once before.
So it was that Abby was curled up in the study, in a very informal position on one of the lovely sedans, a mass of pillows surrounding and supporting her as she perused a new novel. It was full of danger, intrigue, dark secrets and hidden chambers. She really needed to ask Eward--well, perhaps Lysander now... her older brother at any rate- about adding some secret passages. Clearly that was the one thing their family lacked in order to star in their own novel.
She was just coming to the part where the innocent heroine unlocked the secret drawer containing the hidden will of her lost grandfather who really had left the estate to her eldest brother (who everyone had thought dead until chapter 7), when the sound of the door opening drew her back to reality. She glanced up as she turned the page, but returned her attention to the book. If one of them wanted to speak to her they could. She had good reason to ignore them all anyway. Edith for being outrageous, Lysander for barely ever speaking to her in her lifetime before he went off pretending to die and popping up at breakfast without so much as an announcement, and Eward for general neglect. Fine. They could talk if they wanted.
