Aimé was staying with the Hurst's, supposedly to learn a few finer points of the English upper-class although in truth he was there more to entertain Lord Hurst. A funeral was a disgraceful place to try to ingratiate himself into the aristocracy. He felt terribly sorry for the family but he hardly knew them, he felt out of place amongst the obvious sorrow.
