"I'm sure they're fine," Lucrète said quickly. "Like you said, they're all young men, they can run fast. You were dragging me and you made it out alright. I'm sure they were far away by the time we got off the Champs de Mars." She gave him a small smile, hoping to assuage his fear and a prickling of her own.
