Piper had felt strange ever since the night of Lord Hurst's hunt party. He'd spent the night with Charles Hurst, and while that certainly wasn't something out of the ordinary, the fact that they'd spent the night talking and holding hands and not having sex was. Plus, the way his brain and body were acting were definitely not something he was accustomed to. It was nice to be back in London with things that made sense, and he'd successfully pushed Charles out of his mind. At least, he did when he was around anyone. No sense acting any different. The theatre was only so big, and he didn't want anyone there asking him about it. Not to mention, he was pretty sure spending the night with Charles without being paid wouldn't go over very well with Harry. So he kept it to himself and kept all those mixed up feelings clamped down behind his usual demeanour. No sense drawing attention to himself by acting any different, after all.
Frowning thoughtfully, Piper made his way up the hill in Greenwich Park. He sat down and took in the view, lightly rolling an apple between his hands. He put thoughts of whether or not Charles really would come to London out of his mind and focused on other things. Like boots. He really needed new boots. He glanced down at them, still frowning, running a finger over one. They were a bit too worn, and he needed to start thinking about acquiring a new pair. Maybe he could find a soldier and steal his boots. He wouldn't miss a pair, would he? Piper sighed, shaking his head. He took a bite of the apple and checked his pocket watch. He still had time before he had to be back. He stretched his back and then laid down, looking up at the sky. With his free hand, he raised it and traced out patterns in the clouds.
