"I ought to have realized that you had something of a softness too," Katherine admitted, perhaps afraid that Eward would take it the wrong way. "I might have saved us both a good amount of arguing." She laughed then, warmly and appreciatively. "Good that you didn't tell me then that I'd hurt you. It'd only have inflated my horrible childish pride." Almost instinctively, and out of nowhere, Katherine felt her hands leave her lap, taking Eward's much larger hand between them.
