Katherine was not entirely sure what to make of the fact that Eward was standing on her doorstep, practically begging her to let him just be in peaceful company. Her mouth was dry and her stomach had wound itself into knots almost immediately at the sight of him; it did seem that there was something amiss, and that intrigued her enough to not be angry.
"You're lucky my mother and Miles are away," Katherine stated matter-of-factly, but she found that her voice wavered; was it uncontrolled anxiety or excitement that caused it? Pulling the door further open, Katherine continued quickly, "Now get inside before anybody notices how odd this is."
