"Daphne, I don't love him, if that's what you're implying," Katherine denounced, but the words felt strange coming off of her tongue, like they were not meant to be in such an order. "And yes, as a matter of fact, we did address it, in no uncertain terms. But it's not settled anything, least of all that there is anything further between us. And it is certainly bad enough that I've shared a bed with a childhood companion who I loathe, I needn't make it worse." Though she could not hide a bit of a laugh at Daphne's suggestions.
Rolling her eyes, Katherine added, "Oh, so you think that keeping a secret with an ego maniac is any fun? I am in utter shock he's not told anyone and spread it to all of England, at least that I know of." But she paused, taken aback by her friend's words. "I don't...I don't care for him, not that way. I never have. I don't know why I even thought I might have." Katherine sighed, knowing in her heart that it was a complete bluff.
