Eward was studying Katherine intensely and for what seemed like an age. He had no idea that he seemed flush from the exertion of the hunt, nor that his appearance pleased her (though she might not have admitted it) for he was too busy thinking of how she looked to him. It was only when Daphne spoke in her important manner that his attention was diverted and he looked to Daphne, but without the pompousness of before despite her reaction to him.
"Ah - well I regret that, then, Miss Wexley," he said to her, bowing slightly. "I think it wise you left the hunt with the Doctor, if I may say. I doubt Lord Hurst could have taken the humiliation of both our skills against his. You shoot well..." His eyes moved from Daphne to Katherine, a glint of amusement hidden in his gaze.
