Daniel had been paying more attention to not getting shot than what Daphne had been doing. The way the men went about riding it was like they were being chased by cannibals! Now he had a notion of what the poor stag felt like, though he was happy that at least one was spared to go back to its habitat. When Daphne dismounted Daniel reached for her arm again almost instinctively while looking at the others.
"You appear to be more in favour than even I am!" he smiled, watching some of the fellows' faces. "I'll have to watch you are not stolen from me."
