He flashed a small smile, noting the streaks of tears still on her face. "Edith." He says, remembering the elder sister's name as she spoke, and moving closer to her, gesturing to sit back down and settling on the bench without her. "Whatever is the matter, my dear?" He asks her, raising his hand to the two dogs that sit down on the path in front of the bench, both getting a pet for their good behaviour.
"Where is your sister? Is she not with you?" He asks, thinking it strange that the girl was out by herself and so upset. But perhaps that was why Edith was out by herself, family arguments were not, after all, rare.
