Katherine followed Eward as closely as she dared, careful of who she walked past in case they were seen. It would get back to her mother in an instant that they were sneaking into dark hallways together and that would not end well. Heart pounding in her chest, Katherine came to a halt beside Eward in the draped hallway, daringly looking up at him in the darkness.
She took a stabilizing breath. He was right. He was more than right. And yet Katherine found it hard to even think about, let alone talk about, despite the necessity of it. "There is nothing to discuss," Katherine deflected his suggestion, crossing her arms and turning away. "It's rather simple, isn't it?"
