Katherine raised an elegant eyebrow at Eward's words, both perplexed and not at all surprised. The self-righteous part of her - which was, indeed, a large part - knew that nobody, not even Eward, could be truly happy living a life of debauchery and corruption, but the sincere part of her knew when something was not right. And Eward being miserable just did not seem right. At his second assertion, however, Katherine nearly dropped the glass she carried. Stuttering, she replied, "I...I beg your pardon?" It was intended to come out inquisitive, even quiet, but perhaps it sounded a bit harsh.
