Katherine, in her attempt to avoid any possible confrontations, was rather hopeless at trying to get away. When she heard Eward's voice, she knew that it was directed at her. She stopped, rather abruptly, and turned to face him, not at all surprised that he had taken what she was sure was a second drink and was acting just as nonchalant as she wished she could be.
