Madelene gave him a suspicious look. Her poor judgment had gotten her into trouble before when she believed things like that. Several times she had found herself in unfavorable situations simply by believing the words of strange men on the street. But he seemed to be innocent enough, at least in her opinion.
"Thank you," she said softly. "I'm Madelene," she added as she looked back down. "And you're Nell?" she questioned gently.
