Madelene had been looking down the street in the other direction, her eyes watching a well-dressed man intently. She was hoping he'd come her way and that she'd be able to catch his attention, but it was no use. He was soon joined by an upper class woman in a blue silk gown, that made Madelene rather jealous. Sighing she looked to her left, surprised to see the boy standing there. It suddenly occurred to her that he had said something.
Looking down she shook her head. "No," she said softly. She hadn't made anything off her first customer, something that was common for her. Being so young and a girl made it easy for her clients to get away without paying a cent.
