PERSONALITY: Layla(Reira) is charismatic, friendly, sensitive, naive, self-centered and spontaneous. Just like Komatsu Nana, she has tendency to seek out for protection and rely on others to make decisions for her. Usually she has agreeable demeanour with zing of playfulness, with bit of quirky streak, with her innocence shining through in her comments here and there. She is main source of laughter in her TRAPNEST along with Naoki Fujieda. However she is naïve, and a bit thoughtless, inconsiderate of others, and appears to be bad at drawing boundaries. While she cares deeply for people around her, it’s often expressed as reaction to their issues rather than true understanding of the other. In a way, you could say she is a very honest person, both to herself and to others around her. She is prone to act on her emotions and it often puts others in difficult place, but usually people are forgiving of her because her intensions isn’t bad. Her biggest flaw, however is the fact she is a bit cowardly. In contrast to Hachi who’s direct and confrontational in her emotionality, and tries to be independent in some of her decision, Layla tends to rely on others and or escapes. She makes rash decisions that she would regret, and would try to take it back. In a way, she is most innocent and like a child, sheltered and untainted. Like a child stuck in an adult’s body. In contrast of some of her assertion(She can be really forward when there’s something she wants.) she seems to have a bit of loneliness issue as well as insecurity issue, which I suspect is rooted from divorce of her parents and rejections from Takumi, and the fact that she has been dependent on Takumi and Ren for all of her musical career. But it isn’t as serious as Oosaki Nana, who appears to be lonely all her life. In contrast, Layla seems to be used to being loved… Little bit of a personal opinion, her tendency to let her emotions take over her life makes me question whether she respects herself or not.
After the funeral she is shown hospitalized, and being taken care by Takumi. There she expresses that if she moves back home she’ll be a burden to her mother, and she decides to move to Tokyo as Takumi suggested as he offers to be there with her. Then in a meeting with Naoki and Yasu it’s revealed Reira suffers amnesia, forgetting entirely of Ren’s death.
JOURNAL SAMPLE: Hi everyone, living alone is a lot more work than I had originally had thought. Mari comes by time to time to help with the housework, but it’s just not the same without you guys. And no, Mr.Married man doesn’t count. :p Speaking of marrige, it's getting with Mari's news of getting married. I had no idea she had a boyfriend despite our busy schedule! I guess we were not the only one who were keeping busy ne?
Ren, how’s England? Are you still caught up in the Hyde park, too busy to make the time of the day to give us a call?
I know you’re enjoying yourself, but Reira will get mad if this keeps up. I can’t sing unless it’s your guitar after all.
Ah, I heard Nana san went to England. Must be nice, living with your loved person in your dream place.
Boo- Now I’m really gonna be angry. Perhaps, I’ll go visit Yasu. After all, his bald head always cheers me right up.
THIRD-PERSON SAMPLE: (Right after Ren’s death) What'll you do when you get lonely And nobody's waiting by your side? You've been running and hiding much too long. You know it's just your foolish pride.
Another tear rolled down the woman’s cheek as she buried her head in her knees. The room was cold and dark, white and empty and she shivered as she interlocked her fingers. Curtains from the veranda waltzed slowly with the wind, allowing few more flakes of snow to build up around her feet. Unmoving from her post, she only turned up the volume of her music player louder.
Wave of regret engulfed her conscience and she raised her hand to cover her ears. She did not meant for this to happen. She wasn’t entirely to blame. She desperately wished there was someone else there. She desperately wished he was there. It was okay even if he was high.
‘Save me…’ She cried, once again failing to see herself in the song.
