NAME: Bang AGE: 25 CONTACT: bobangk@hotmail.com OOC JOURNAL: bobangk.livejournal.com HOW DID YOU FIND US? Kei told me about the role play \o/ WHY ARE YOU APPLYING/WHAT DO YOU HOPE TO GET OUT OF THIS RP? I would like to strengthen my English through writing. It is my second language and as much as I’d hate to admit it I’m still not entirely comfortable with it yet. Also, the character I’ll be applying for is the type I’ve never tried my hands at. Therefore, it would be a great –and enjoyable- challenge. Lastly, I’ve only been in Digimon RP in my life. I’ve always wondered what would it be like, playing a character in different universe, and thought Yazawa-verse would be a wonderful place to venture into.
---------- CHARACTER APPLIED FOR: Layla(Reira) Serizawa SERIES: Nana HISTORY: Layla(Reira) is the vocalist of TRAPNEST who is the rivalling band for protagonist band, BLACK STONES. In NANA, the rivalry between the two bands takes heavy focus in interpersonal relationship than where they stand in the musical profession, because one of two protagonist, Oosaki Nana holds a personal grudge against TRAPNEST for taking Honjo Ren away from her own band, back in high school. Not just that, Layla is disliked by another protagonist Komatsu Nana (Hachi), because of her close relationship with Ichinose Takumi, Hachi’s husband. In a nutshell, there’s nothing good happening when Reira’s around. :p
Layla(Reira) is born in New York then moved to Japan following her mother. She is a long time childhood friend of Ichinose Takumi, who is love of her life. In her young age, in one of the winter, Layla confesses and then kisses Takumi after singing “Time after Time” , but he did not react well to her confession. To maintain the relationship she quickly changes her words and tells him that it’s a cultural norm in America to kiss people that they respect. Takumi explains to Layla in Japan such display of affection is reserved for grown ups, but gives her permission to kiss him or hold hands when they are alone. Therefore, it was a great shock to Layla when he rejected her in junior high school when she asked him to go steady. However, unable to let go of Takumi, she continues revolve around him, and befriends Honjo Ren, Naoki Fujieda and Yasushi Takagi(Yasu) in high school as Takumi continues to pursuit music. Layla, unsure of where she stands in her relationship with Takumi as he continues to treat her like his sister, complains that she feels like a “Caged Songbird”, and dates Yasu briefly. With Naoki Fujieda and Honjo Ren, Layla and Takumi leaves their hometown for major debut in Tokyo, and since they’ve been the top of the entertainment business.
Layla writes songs on her own as well, and it’s usually of unrequited love reflecting her feelings. It is once expressed in the comics that people says it’s a song about “adultery”.
Her love for Takumi was never returned in ways she wanted, so in her ventures to fill the void to release her frustration she meets Okazaki Shin in one of the club, at the height of the band’s popularity. Their dangerous meeting continues on, and eventually Takumi catches on and demands both Layla and Shin to break up. At first she refused, but then after being burned by paparazzi on crafting scandal between her and Ren for their trip to London, she breaks up with Shin. After that she request to remand their relationship, but this time around Shin refuses.
Takumi marries Komatsu Nana, because of her pregnancy, and devastated, Layla turns to her good friend Ren for solace, in which seemed questionable to the readers whether it was entirely friendship or not, as Ren’s drug issues were scolded by Layla rather than his love of life, Oosaki Nana. And due to her disappearance in shock, Honjo Ren goes out to search for her, and dies in a car accident.
Lately, she is mostly bashed by fans not only because of this incident but because her loud emotional display at the funeral, which appeared to serve as relief for her guilt and sadness for loss of a close friend than consideration to others who are hurting just as much.
