Malcolm was poking at the cubes that passes for meals here. The bread he had with it was normal, just in case, but he was a man willing to experiment. He was reflecting on the frankly enormous change being landed in this time period meant to him when he saw the woman match the profile picture.

A gentleman, he immediately stood. "Commander Janeway?" he asked.

	"Never sir, Ma'am in a crunch time but I prefer Captain - though I suppose in this case it's Commander - than anything." She didn't blame him though, many Captain's preferred Sir to anything else but she'd always preferred the gender neutral term herself. It was easier in the long run. It wasn't even enough to be considered a 'breach', but when your father, and his extended family, instils its importance in you when you are young, you can't help an instinctive reaction. Kathryn could tell that he wasn't comfortable with it but she wouldn't push it. Still she had made her thoughts known and that was it. "One of the biggest changes other than that is actually how this crew formed," she admitted. "From what I've gathered all of them were fresh out of the Academy. With the destruction of Vulcan, all hands were called to deck but the main fleet is out of range so all of the Cadets were called to serve," she explained. "All of this happened about five years ago for the crew of this ship, time wise."

	"It's a good question and one I've pondered myself," she admitted. "It's odd but it just is the way it is. Why are we appearing here as it is?" she asked with a shrug. The Q - both as a race and individually they're known as Q - have the ability to manipulate time, are seemingly immortal and omnipotent - who loves causing havoc with us," she explained.
