WHO: Chloe Decker and Lucifer Morningstar
WHEN: Right after Chloe's arrival
WHERE: Deck Five Lounge
SUMMARY: Meeting up with Lucifer
WARNINGS: Low

Chloe was feeling more than a little bit overwhelmed. She'd listed silently to everything they'd told her when she'd first arrived, and she couldn't deny that everything pointed to the undeniable fact that she was indeed on a spaceship of some sort. Everything inside of her wanted to scream that this was impossible...but how could she when the evidence was right before her eyes? She'd trusted physical evidence for her entire career - she couldn't just stop now.

She needed more information, that was it. She just needed to learn more and the pieces would surely fall into place and her world would start spinning again the way it was supposed to. The way she needed it to if she was going to hold all the different parts of her life together.

She had to admit that she'd been relieved when she'd seen Lucifer's message. As strange as this place was, having him here made it a bit less scary. She couldn't explain why exactly, but she felt safe around him, and knowing he was here had almost instantly made her feel better. He was a strange man, no doubt, but he was also a good one, and she trusted him in a way that she didn't trust many people.

After only a few wrong turns she'd managed to find the Deck Five Lounge. She didn't see Lucifer immediately, so she took a seat at the bar and ordered a drink. She wasn't a heavy drinker, but if any situation called for a drink, it was this one.

To say that seeing Chloe's name show up on the announcement of new arrivals had caught Lucifer by surprise would be a severe understatement. He had accepted the fact that he would probably never see her again, and he was trying to be alright with that.

Then her name had appeared.

Now he was at the lounge, watching as her eyes scanned the place, looking for him. He moved from behind the bar, and walked over to take the stool next to her, though he remained standing as he simply stared at her.

"Detective," he said, the awe in his voice apparent. And that was it. Chloe Decker had left him tongue tied, as he still had to convince himself that it really was her right next to him.

It hadn't been nearly as long since Chloe had seen Lucifer. Only a day or two, really. Regardless, she couldn't stop the smile as she looked up at him. They had a complicated past, but at the end of the day he was...well...her partner and her best friend, and she trusted him with her life. They'd been through a hell of a lot together and friendships forged in fire like theirs had been were the strongest of all. Sure, he drove her crazy half the time, but she'd learned to just roll her eyes and put up with that.

"Lucifer," she replied by way of greeting. "See? It's me." She paused, then exhaled deeply, her shoulders losing a good bit of their tension. "It's good to see you."

She had a thousand questions, but they could wait until he stopped looking at her like she might disappear any second.

"Right, yes. Of course, Detective," Lucifer nodded, seemingly satisfied as he took the stool next to her. "And it's good to see you."

He had more recent memories of her, but the last time Lucifer had seen Chloe, she had been laid up in a hospital bed. And then he'd driven away. At least now he knew how that had turned out so he wasn't dealing with residual guilt. (Or maybe he was.)

"So," he said, gesturing to the view. "We're in space now. Hard to believe, right?"

"Yeah, space..." she said, letting her words trail off. She didn't want to believe that she was actually on a starship hurtling through space god knew how many millions of miles from Trixie. The thought of her daughter made her start and she looked over at Lucifer with barely concealed panic.

"What about Trixie??" She asked him. "Who's taking care of her while I'm here?"

That was a terrifying thought and her heart was pounding.

"Will Dan know? Can I call him?"

"You are, Detective," Lucifer said. "Think of it this way, when was the last time you saw me? Actually, when was the last time you saw me? What were you doing when you arrived here? But yes, as I was saying, the point is you're still there. I'm still there. Trixie is fine. And it's weird. I wouldn't think about that too much."

Especially if she got to the same conclusion that Beckett had drawn, that everyone she knew from the past was now dead. At least Lucifer had the sense not to mention that.

"The last time I saw you before coming here? We were, uh, on that case with the charred people and your stepmom. Not long ago at all."

And she suddenly saw his point.

"But you were here a few days ago too. So I'm still at home too..." Yeah, right now she didn't want to think about that too closely. She was pretty sure it would give her a headache. But she was going to cling to it so that she didn't have to worry about Trixie for the moment.

"So...if everyone at home is okay, and we can't get back...are we just supposed to start over here? New lives?"

She wasn't sure she wanted to do that without Trixie, although in some ways leaving the LAPD behind and starting over sounded great.

His stepmom. Bloody hell, he'd already forgotten that particular memory where Chloe told him that Charlotte had said that's how they were related. The memory that stuck out the most however was his farewell to his mother, and Lucifer quickly shook himself out of that particular recollection.

"Essentially," he agreed. "It's a bloody mess really but that's what we have to work with." He shrugged. "I mean, this place isn't Lux, but it's not too shabby either."

"Then I guess I'd better put in an application for security here. I'm not just going to sit around and do nothing."

She hadn't really accepted that she couldn't go home yet, but for now she was going to work under that assumption. Just until she had time to think it all out.

She reached over and squeezed his hand. There wasn't anything but friendship behind it; that was what she needed most.

"I'm glad you're here. It makes it easier to have someone here I know I can trust to tell me the truth."

Lucifer considered Chloe for a moment, looking at her before reaching for a bottle of scotch on the bar and pouring himself a new drink. "About that, I left you a voicemail back home. It was rather long or long-winded, perhaps. You didn't happen to listen to it before you ended up here, did you?"

Because at that point, time broke down for Lucifer. He didn't know how long he was out before he woke up in the desert. But he had been ready to tell Chloe the truth, and he was ready to now.

Maybe.

Regardless, practically the entire ship knew who he was now, so he thought it best she learn from him, even if he'd been trying to tell her he was the devil since the day they met.

"I hadn't yet, no." She raised an eyebrow, examining him closely. "What was it about?"

She was curious, and maybe a little concerned. His tone told her that whatever it was he wanted to tell her was important, and important wasn't always good.

"Maybe it should wait for when you've settled in more, Detective. I don't want to throw too much at you all at once. Besides, do you have any questions? I have been here a while, after all."

It wasn't that he lost his nerve, not entirely. He just wasn't sure how much she could handle all at once.

It was probably for the best, really. She was seriously trying to come to terms with all of this, and she was kind of leaning on him emotionally. It was making her feel much better to know that she wasn't alone here. If he'd upended that right now, it probably would have sent her into a bit of a spiral.

"Alright," she said, having another sip of her drink. "It's not like this is the only time we're going to talk. Even if we're not on cases together."

She liked to think that they were friends outside of that now.

"Are you kidding? After thinking I was never going to see you again, you're going to be hard pressed to get rid of me," Lucifer said. "Come on," he added, standing up and taking her hand to get her to do the same. He took his glass and nodded at hers and then led her over to the piano.

"At least some things should stay the same, right?" he asked.

Chloe followed him over to the piano, taking a sip of her drink.

"As long as you don't want me to play," she said with a smile. He already knew how dreadful she was, so he hoped that he wouldn't even ask. Especially in front of all these people.

She leaned against the piano a little. She enjoyed listening to him play. He had a way with the keys.

It was definitely the right decision, to wait a bit before throwing more overwhelming news at her. Glancing at Chloe, Lucifer smiled, and then started playing. That was one of the benefits of managing the Lounge, after all. He could pretty much do whatever he liked.
