SUMMARY: Tom meets a real life woman from the 20th century

Agreeing to meet with a man who was fascinated with the 20th century probably wasn't going to do much for Mary and her feelings of being obsolete aboard this ship. At least Tom had made her feel a bit more at ease by saying that it was a ruse to ask her for a drink. She admired that honesty, and the fact that someone on the ship wanted to have a drink with her. After being dumped, it was a nice feeling, even if she wasn't really sure about dating any more Starfleet personnel. Not that she saw this as any sort of date. It was just a drink.

Mary arrived early and ordered a martini before getting a table for them. She smiled at Tom when he approached. "Mr. Paris," she said with a nod.

Mary nodded. Most of that, other than flight, had come along after her. Even still, she had little experience with flight. She had never been in an airplane back home.

"You mean like jazz music or Rudolph Valentino?" Mary asked, for once not feeling foolish for bringing either of those topics up. At least Tom had a way of making her feel more comfortable. "My brother-in-law was our chauffeur before he married my sister, so he's always loved cars."

Since her husband had died in one, Mary was a bit more reserved in her opinion.

Tom was clearly quite excited about where this conversation was going. His smile was wide, and he looked like an excited school boy. "I love Jazz music. Although I think my favourite music is rock and roll from the 1950's. I had a holoprogramme back on Voyager, where I could work on numerous different cars, while listening to rock music."

"Who's your favourite jazz musician?"
