For someone who vowed never to leave Bakura again, Gaeriel sure was enjoying being on foreign soil.

Earth was a beautiful planet, there was no denying it, just as there was no denying there wasn't a thing she could do to get herself home. She simply didn't possess that kind of power or knowledge. The only thing she could do was enjoy herself, for it would disrupt the balance of things even more so were she to confine herself to quarters and abstain from exploring the wonders this universe had to offer.

Still, she made a point to seek out the only familiar face that had any inkling of who she was when she finally arrived at the luau.

"Captain Solo."

Han was glad to see her, even though they were just acquaintances. She was the only one besides the kids from his timeline, so it was good to talk. Han did have in common with her that he probably could not have just stayed here for good. Not with so much waiting for him back home. He'd always been a wanderer by nature, only settling more with Leia.

"Senator...Gaeriel...I'm sorry, which one do you like better?" he asked. He wasn't sure if she'd be okay with her first name, so it was best to ask. "It's good to see you, either way."

"Gaeri is just fine," she decided. "It's not like my position carries with it the same sort of significance and ceremony here as it did back home. I'm no senator here, just another traveler hoping to find her way home."

A vacation was something she'd needed for a long time, but there was never any time to take one. Either it was too dangerous to step back while under the Empire's control, or there was simply too much to be done that she couldn't trust any of her aides to accomplish in her stead.

"Yeah...yeah, that's true." he nodded.

"Even later on, times like this are kinda far between. Getting rid of Papatine just made things more chaotic for a while. And with Leia's government duties and always having to watch out for the kids...a break's hard to come by." he said.

"Things did settle down more recently, though." he said.

"Bakura was left in turmoil after you and your group departed — for the better, but there was still a lot of work to be done. I don't imagine I would've gotten a break from the workload I would be taking on."

Reform took a lot of effort. She assumed he understood that, given his own experiences and involvement with the Alliance.

"That's good to hear. The universe deserves peace." Even a follower of the Cosmic Balance could see that.

Han nodded. "I think it was that way all over the place. Power struggle. So, I kinda know the feeling."

He agreed. he wanted so much to just be more normal for a while, to let the kids have a break from all the constant troublesome things in their lives. "I agree." he said. "I mean, someone's always finding something to disagree on, but we do need it."

"It was a power struggle before you got there — before the Empire got there, really."

A tough admission, one the Bakurans usually don't make to outsider's, but it's the truth nonetheless. Gaeriel sees no harm in admitting that to someone who was there for the bulk of their toughest battle yet. Her world surely would've fallen had it not been for their intervention and assistance.

"Bakura was on the brink of Civil War before we ceded to the Empire. There are many who are going to oppose our newfound connections with your Alliance, because they firmly believe the Empire is the glue that kept us all together when we were on the brink of falling apart. And maybe they were, but for all the wrong reasons."

"That definitely sounds complicated." he replied.

"Bakura stayed with us for a while...but then it was back to being independent." he told her.

He remembered something then that he didn't think he could tell her. She had died during the Black Fleet mess.

"They did build and lend us a couple of strong warships, though, for a while." he said. "Helped us out when my cousin decided to take over Corellia and got things into a mess with the rest of the New Republic."

Gaeriel nodded, silently absorbing this information. She appreciated that he left out anything directly involving her, or left out her name where applicable. It was nice to know that Bakura was still flourishing in some way years down the line, that they were contributing — if even to yet another conflict — in some way, but she had no interest in knowing about herself. It would do her no good to know those things, good or bad.

"And here I thought I had complicated family members. I hope things turned out in your favor."

"Yeah, pretty much. At least for the immediate family. I just don't plan on going anywhere near my homeworld for a while. My cousin's a bully, and I'd rather not deal with him if possible.

Sometimes I'm second guessing him not being killed or at least taken out of power when we had the chance...I don't like the situation back home." He said. He didn't know what Thrackan was going to do next, and just hoped it wouldn't be worse than what had already happened.

"A sentiment many people here share, I'm sure."

Not about his cousin, but their situations back home in general. She'd seen enough chatter over the networks about things people were doing, the states of their galaxies, and how they wished they could change things. But as it stood, they were unable to do so. None of them could do anything to change how things were where they came from, not until they found a way to get back.

"Yeah. Kinda seems like things are similar, no matter what galaxy it is." He had to agree that he'd seen way too many beings talking about things that were a lot like back home. Maybe some things were the same no matter where a being went in the universe.
