The three of them spent the day in Portland, finding Earth a little different than how they left it. It was interesting. Portland was always kind of hipster, so when Bruce crashed for a nap, Betty suggested a PBR.

Tony and Betty sat at the bar and Betty was covering her mouth as she giggled. "You shocked him? Literally? You weren't afraid of him? Not even a little bit?"

Betty was happy there was another soul that wasn't afraid of the Hulk, or afraid to set Bruce off. People seemed to treat him like a leper, and she didn't appreciate it at all. She was interested in this Lullaby thing Bruce mentioned that he and Natasha was working on. Betty just wasn't sure if it was weird to ask Natasha to teach her how to do it. She stopped Bruce from transforming on one occasion, by jumping onto him and demanding he get his shit together. Authoritative tones?

"Everyone keeps telling me that. I am super behind. Bruce knows all kinds of stuff that I didn't and Legal knows even more. It's super annoying." Tony said, finishing off his beer. He ordered them another round, then shrugged one of his shoulders.

"I don't know. I think Science is tricky about that stuff. I had a friend, she was studying stuff like eugenics and molecular biology and botany. Brilliant scientist. She adapted one of our gene sequences to speed up healing, but it kind of went kaput. And then people were literally blowing up. But she started off just chasing that... you know. That thrill of discovery. You start off with a simple idea, pretty innocent. Other stuff sometimes just interferes and warps it all to hell, you know?"

Betty tried to catch up with him, draining the rest of her beer.

"Science is tricky. Who knew that using Cap's DNA could change you into a giant green monster? Why green, anyway? He should be blue. Everything is blue." She nervously looked down at her nails. She felt she was a little out of her element with Tony. He seemed to respect her, so that was good. Men in science tended to mansplain things too often. But he was okay-- she just felt an edginess from talking about her father and the Hulk.

"So you got most of your gang with you on the ship. Unless they're not your gang anymore?" She knew about the civil war between them. It was on the news.

	"Well I mean. I guess, yeah? I don't know, it's complicated. Legal and I rarely see eye to eye, and Cap keeps mostly to himself. So mainly it's just me and Bruce, the science bros." "Definitely a Rock Star." Tony decided, nodding his head. "Hey - you've seen him at his worst, and you still tried to protect him. You know all of his faults and you're still trying to do the relationship thing. And you're not asking him to change too much, either. I mean you can't. But you're willing to accept that, or it sounds like it."

He shrugged a shoulder, "Bruce and I are bros, but we don't know everything about each other. I think I only knew him a couple of years when I ended up here. The last time I tried to have a talk with him about my past he actually fell asleep. But I guess it was a pretty long talk."

"I'd try to save him if he was the Hulk all the time. We have a history. And it's thick," she said with two fingers held a ways apart from each other. "You can't erase that."

She grinned, "He fell asleep. Like he did tonight? He probably has a hard time sleeping at night. When we were traveling, he'd have nightmares. I imagine it's disorienting to go from Hulk to human."

"Definitely can't erase that. I just wish he'd twig to it, you know? That we'd protect him or... I mean does the Hulk need much protecting? Mainly from himself, I guess, or from being misunderstood. But still - we'd do it. He doesn't get that. That we heart him no matter what shape or size he's in." Tony said, nodding his head.

And then he nodded it again. "Yeah, he just kind of nodded off. But I bet he does. He's... you know. Not alone. You see stuff, you go through stuff. Kind of makes it hard to just sleep peacefully."

"I hope that he lets himself BE forgiven. By you and anyone else. I just - you know. The self loathing, it's a thing. I think that's thy we click. I don't turn into the Hulk but I've got plenty of other issues. I want him to embrace this awesome thing you two could have." Tony rattled off, while grabbing up his new bottle.

"In short, I'm glad that he has you, too. And I hope he doesn't throw that away."
