Welcome to the Deck 5 Lounge

"Err, it was before... Lucifer." And possibly explained Lucifer, even slightly. She and Lucifer had a lot of history that added to her ending up in his bed. "Anyway, he took me to Starfleet headquarters and showed me some books - real ones. It was quite sweet."

Mary laughed slightly, shaking her head, her cheeks slightly flushed. "Anyway, I am sure that you are tired of hearing about my romantic life."

	That actually did explain Lucifer. Jadzia bit back a comment about the Captain making it hard to resist urges. "That does sound sweet. Bet you didn't expect him to think about that." Mary did carry herself with a certain level of regality and she was sure that was obvious to Jim. Perhaps he could tell that she came from a time and society that were very proper and he was acting accordingly. "I enjoyed my time with him," she said. "I told him that I looked forward to our next time together."

She cocked an eyebrow at Jadzia's comment. "Who is extra distracting?"

"I hope there's a next time together. If not, i'll lock you two in the holodeck alone." Locking people in the holodeck was going to become a thing. Jadzia had every intention of doing that to Marian and Lucifer, too.

"You mean besides half the crew and travellers? While I don't have a type, I still kind of have a type. Stoic and a little sad." Jadzia rubbed her thumb over the rim of her drink. "Mako. The one who came from giant monster world."

Mary laughed, though her cheeks were tinged pink. She would love to take him on a "date" through the Downton simulation so that he might see what her home looked like.

At Jadzia's confession, Mary's eyes widened slightly. "Oh." That wasn't the response she was expected. Wasn't Mako a woman? "Forgive me, but... weren't you married to a man back home?"

She did know about gay people of course, but sexuality was much less fluid in her time.

	"No..." Mary said, though she was confused. "A person can be attracted to people of both genders at the same time?" She had never really thought of that, nor had she ever met anyone like that. "Oh." There were certainly women that Mary thought were beautiful, but she couldn't see herself wanting to be with a woman ever. Frankly, she enjoyed men too much, both intimately and for friendship purposes. But she couldn't say that it bothered her terribly that Jadzia was interested in both men and women. It was just one more thing that made this century so different from her own.

"It must be a bit shocking, I doubt people are so frank about sex and sexuality in your time." It was a shame, if people were just more open and honest about how they felt and less judging a lot of problems would be solved. But that was an ideal that just didn't exist prior to the 23nd century. And even then, plenty of things existed that people liked to judge about, still. Things to work on. Always things to work on.

"Which might be another problem, as I'm not too familiar with her time or the specifics of how the culture she was raised in might view those things." She was starting to open to companionship being an option. "Someone like Tony would be easier. No strings, a little fun. I don't think Mako does casual."

Jadzia winked, "I might be a little jealous of you and Lucifer."

"No, people certainly aren't," Mary confirmed. Thomas had never even used the word gay. She wasn't sure how her family knew that he liked men other than it seemed obvious for whatever reason. It was certainly not talked about openly though.

Mary snorted when Jadzia said that she was jealous of her. "I think by sleeping with Lucifer I've created more problems than I've solved. Tony though..." Mary turned to look at him. "Might be a better choice. He is an attractive man."

	Jadzia took a sip of her drink, eyes twinkling. "That is he. And probably less problems. Or more, depending on how you go about it. I'm not sure he's one you want to try falling in love with unless you're really, really dedicated." Better to stick to friends with benefits, if that became an option. As attractive as she found him, she had already ruined one friendship on board the ship by sleeping with the man, so she wouldn't do it again.
