WHO: Peggy Carter & Lucifer Morningstar
WHEN: 226402.22 around 1400
WHERE: Med bay & traveler liaison office
SUMMARY: Lucifer arrives on the Enterprise; Peggy comes face to face with the devil.
WARNINGS: None!

There seemed to be an influx of new arrivals today, Peggy thought as she rubbed her forehead. Hopefully she'll be able to get a few new travelers on board with the liaison program soon so that she didn't exhaust herself each time there were mass arrivals. She liked this job, that was true - after all, she had suggested it and spearheaded it - but when people arrived one after the other like this, it was exhausting.

After a few moments to herself to catch her breath, Peggy crossed back out into the med bay in time to relieve a harried-looking young nurse from what appeared to be a frustrating conversation with a very handsome man. Peggy put on a smile and interceded. "Hello," she greeted. "Peggy Carter. Traveler liaison. I'm here to get you on-boarded and answer any questions you have, of which I'm sure you have a lot."

In the brief time that Lucifer had been aboard the Enterprise he had learned nothing of his plight. Instead he’d been arguing with the nurse over whether or not she was allowed to take his blood, telling her that he was not responsible for what may or may not happen when mere mortals came into contact with his divine blood. The discussion was going nowhere, and Lucifer was running out of room to back away from the attending. Therefore he was pleased when another woman stepped in and halted the process.

“Yes, well,” Lucifer said, taking in Peggy’s appearance. “Lucifer Morningstar. I will not be giving blood. Now, if you could kindly tell me which way the exit is, I’ll be on my way.” He had questions, of course, but irritation was currently winning over curiosity.

The name surprised her, and she arched an eyebrow but had no other outward reaction. "Submitting to a full physical isn't mandatory, though it is suggested. In the event of a medical emergency, it would be good for the medical staff to have that information already on file. It'll be stored in your identification card." She smiled at him. "As for the exit, you're free to leave the medical bay at any time." She motioned for the grey wall that served as a door.

She put a hand on her hip and considered him for a moment. "Usually people have more questions than this though," Peggy said. "Do you have any?"

“No, I don’t want to leave the medical bay, or well I suppose I do. I want to leave here completely, wherever here is. Is my car parked around back?”
There was no rational explanation as to why Lucifer would have found himself in a medical bay when he’d just been driving down the road unless… “Was I in an accident? Did my car survive? Was the Detective nearby? Is she alright?”

Peggy pursed her lips together. "You're not on earth anymore," she said, "if that's where you last were. You're on a starship, the Enterprise, and the year is 2264. There's been a rift in the space-time continuum that's been pulling people from all times and places and dropping them here. So I'm afraid that your car isn't around back. And you weren't in an accident. You've just been deposited here. The Enterprise has been accepting these travelers for a few months now."

Lucifer listened to Peggy’s explanation with an amused expression on his face. “Right. I’m on a starship flying through space and I’ve somehow traveled two hundred and forty seven years through time. Brilliant. Also absolutely ludicrous. Are you meant to be in the psych ward?”

The corner of Peggy's lips twitched. She'd seen all kinds of reactions by now. "Come with me, Mr. Morningstar," she said, motioning to him to follow her through a door and into an office that she had set up adjacent to the medbay. Once the door slid open and she walked in, she gestured to the panel of windows behind the desk. The windows had a direct view of space, the stars streaking past them.

She held out a PADD for him. "This is your personal communication device. It will include information about the Enterprise, including your quarters and a map of the ship. It is also a way for you to communicate with members of the crew and other travelers. I'll have an ID badge for you in a moment."

Lucifer’s eyes flickered downward as Peggy led him into an office, and he considered the fact that Peggy Carter might be insane, but she was not at all unpleasant to look at. And so he followed her.

He then promptly ignored everything else she said and stepped to look out the windows. “What? How in the hell?” He was so completely taken aback that he didn’t even try to make a joke about hell. He was, it appeared, actually flying through space.

“What year did you say this was?” Lucifer asked, turning back toward her, his expression a mix of confusion and awe. “And where am I again?”

Now she kept her expression neutral. "2264. You're on board a ship called the Enterprise. Mr. Morningstar, I know it's a lot to take in. I, myself, am from the year 1948 on Earth and had very similar a reaction as you're having when I inexplicably found myself here about two months ago. I'm afraid the only explanation I can offer is that rift in the space-time continuum, working out of some spacial nebula some distance from here. It's quite unexpected, and we have no way of knowing the how or the why or even how to send you back. I'm sorry."

Lucifer only nodded, looking rather uncertain. “My father might be behind this,” he said, although that didn’t make sense that he’d now find himself farther away from Chloe Decker than he’d even intended. Realizing that Peggy was still holding out the odd device to him, he took it.

“1948? Well, I can assure you that Hitler remains in Hell.” He paused. “Assuming you were on the side opposing him.” Still not completely oriented to his new location, he started trying to figure out his PADD.

His father? What an odd thing to say. Same with the Hitler comment. Though that couldn't go unanswered. "I assure you I was," she said dryly. "However, seeing as that is now hundreds of years in the past, it hardly matters." Peggy paused now as well. "May I ask when and where you're from? It might help me determine how best to get you settled or preemptively answer any questions you might not even know you have."

Starting to feel more comfortable if only because people tended to not believe him when he spoke the truth, Lucifer answered, “Well, I’m older than your mortal construct of time, but last I checked it was 2017 and I was living in Los Angeles, having abandoned Hell.” He smirked, studying her. None of this made any sense, but he was sure he’d come up with a reasonable explanation sooner rather than later.

"So when you say your name is Lucifer Morningstar," Peggy began after a moment of considering everything he's said to her thus far, "you're not saying that your parents just thought that would be hilarious and maybe you'd grow up to be a bit wicked, am I correct? Am I supposed to assume from these comments that you are, actually, Lucifer, otherwise known as the devil, or Satan, or - choose your moniker?"

“Yes, I am the devil,” Lucifer said, the corners of his mouth twitching upward. This was new, not having to convince someone of who he was. “Or I was, before I gave that up to move to LA.” He paused. “Are you saying you believe me?”

As she had seen a lot in her life even before waking up in the 23rd century, she couldn't say that she didn't believe him. But that didn't mean she did believe him either. "I'm saying that I wouldn't consider it outside of the realm of possibility," she said simply. "That said, and I'm not trying to stereotype or make assumptions or anything that like, this ship is part of Starfleet, which is a branch of the United Federation of Planets. And as such, there are rules and regulations, all of which you can find there on your PADD. I hope that won't be too much trouble for you." Her eyes met his, and she might actually look a touch amused.

“That sounds like dreadfully boring reading material,” Lucifer admitted. “And I’ve been known to break the rules from time to time. Quite infamous for it, actually,” he smirked. “I’m meant to get a badge?” Despite everything, Lucifer was now quite curious about his new surroundings, and was eager to explore further.

"I'm sure you are," she said dryly. "And it would be remiss of me not to tell you that there is a brig and a full security team on board." Peggy turned to her desk and shuffled through the stack of PADDs and ID badges she had at her disposal. She tapped through her own PADD for a long moment and then scanned the ID badge before handing it over to him. "You've been assigned to quarters in D-4. This ID will grant you access to all public areas on the ship, including your quarters, the mess hall, recreation rooms, gym, library - that sort of thing. I would say that it also includes your medical information should there be any sort of emergency, but you opted out. Otherwise, you are welcome to update your personal information on your own time. The ID is connected to your PADD and all of the information you need should be there. Any questions?"

“Is there a bar? I could certainly use a drink. Oh, and no need to worry about medical emergencies. If the detective isn’t here, I’m still immortal.” Lucifer examined his PADD which now highlighted his specific information, including the map to his quarters.

“I don’t suppose I have any other belongings on board, do I?”

She smiled. "Yes, the deck five lounge. It should be open now." Peggy pursed her lips for a moment. "Must be nice, to be immortal," she said. She certainly wasn't, and while Steve certainly had his abilities, she didn't think he was immortal or impervious to everything either. It amused her, in that moment, that she was comparing Captain America to the devil.

"If you arrived with anything else besides what's in your pockets, it will have already been cleared and taken to your quarters. If there were any weapons, they were confiscated. They will be returned to you after they've been registered and documented by the security crew." Her own gun had been in their possession for nearly a month, though even know having it back she didn't think she'd have any need to use it. "I don't know if you arrived with anything else though."

“My wardrobe?” he asked. “I’ll need to replenish it, and I have exquisite taste so I hope there’s shopping on board.” He was relieved, however, that there was a bar, and quickly found it through his PADD. “These are quite intuitive, aren’t they?” he asked, sounding genuinely impressed. “I’m really on a spaceship in the future?”

She crossed her arms. "No shopping, per se, no, but there's garments and clothes available to travelers. I'm sure it won't be anything like you'd prefer, but it will have to make do." Peggy glanced over at his PADD and nodded. "Yes. They're easy to work with. And yes, you are."

That certainly sounded less than ideal and Lucifer wasn’t sure how to work around it yet. So instead he simply nodded. “Right. Well I’m onto the bar. You should come join me for a drink when you’re done telling people they’ve traveled through space and time.” A pause. “Is my currency going to work here, or will I have to flirt my way into getting drinks?”

The corner of her mouth twitched and she almost smiled. "I'm off-duty in about three hours," she said. "Maybe I'll see you if you're still there by then." Peggy motioned to his ID card. "As long as you're of age and you have that ID with you, you don't have to worry about currency. Of course, the bartenders reserve the right to cut anyone off if they think they've had too much to drink. Though you being the devil and all, and immortal, maybe that isn't an issue for you."

“My tolerance is insanely high,” Lucifer admitted. “I couldn’t get drunk if I wanted to. I’ll see you then.” He flashed her a smile and left her office, still confused but at least he’d be able to get a drink. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to stop by his quarters as well, if only to retrieve his belongings and see where he was expected to live now. On a spaceship.
