Kate and OTA
The chance to socialize and dine in a place like this was one that Kate couldn't imagine passing up. Sure, she now lived on a spaceship and the Enterprise had a few places where you could stand and gaze out into the depths of space, but this was infinitely cooler. The sensation was a bit like the one she had gotten at the top of the Space Needle in Seattle or the visit that her junior high class had made once to the Windows of the World at the top of the World Trade Center. It was probably as close to the feeling of flight that you could get, a slight disorientation accompanying the adrenaline rush that the rest of her senses were signaling to the rest of her body.
Reaching out to brush her fingertips lightly over the glass wall, Kate wasn't surprised to find that the window was a bit cold. Space itself was subzero in temperature, but it still made the goosebumps rise on her arms. The red slip dress she was wearing wasn't really intended for the cold, the silk fabric already cool against her skin and the thin shoulder straps doing nothing to provide anything in the way of warmth. But that was why she had a husband who was always similar to a furnace in body temp. If she got cold enough, Kate would just convince Castle to help with that problem.
Glancing out again at the view in front of her, Kate smiled, absorbing it in for another moment before she turned on her strappy gold heels and walked to the bar to request a glass of wine.
