Kate Beckett ([info]katebex) wrote in [info]toboldlyrpg,
"Okay, two things," Kate started, interrupting his story to jab a finger in his direction. "First of all, nothing about this is obvious. You tell stories like a drunk toddler, Lucifer. I wasn't there and I don't know your dad or Chloe or anyone else so what you think is obvious? It's not obvious to me. I personally don't think your dad is as manipulative to the rest of us as he is to you, but maybe that's because I'm not even sure I believe in God."

"Secondly, the patterns aren't why you killed your brother. They're maybe what put you on to the chain of events that led you to kill him, but that's not why you did it. People kill for love, jealousy, anger and money ninety-nine percent of the time. One of your siblings treating humans like puppets on strings isn't a reason, even if it does maybe make him a jackass. Generally, people don't want to kill unless they're a psychopath, and they rarely stop at one."

But Kate had a pretty good idea of where the story was going. Even if Lucifer didn't tell her the whole thing, she had a pretty strong intuition that ultimately what led to his taking someone else's life was the protection of someone else - namely the detective that she wasn't even sure Lucifer knew he was half in love with.

Reclining back in her chair, she waved her hand for him to continue. "Go ahead, finish the story. Get it all out there."
