Laser Tag

To celebrate RICHARD CASTLE's birthday, Lt. Commander Dax and Kate Beckett worked with the new holodeck technology to create a game of laser tag. The setting is a thick forest and characters will play on teams, Capture the Flag style.

This. Was. Amazing.

Even if Kate hadn't set up this Enterprise visit as part of their honeymoon, she had still managed to set up the best birthday party ever. Simulation laser tag in a holodeck on the Enterprise with some of his favorite sci-fi characters of all time. He didn't even have words for how incredible it was, or how excited he felt.

Laser tag was serious business, so after picking his team, he suited up and got ready to go in. He was ready to take some people down. The forest was dark and thick, making hiding relatively easy except for the lights on the suit. Castle paused behind a tree, planning his next move. Someone from the opposing team was walking unsuspectingly on the other side of the tree. He bided his time, then jumped out and aimed his gun.

This was possibly the oddest game that Mary had ever played before. Shooting imaginary bullets at people while running around in the dark wearing a ridiculous outfit? She didn't quite get it. But she was trying to be game and try new things, so she decided to participate for at least a round.

Mary knew how to shoot a gun, but it was a hunting rifle, not the sort of futuristic thing she held in her hand. Pulling the trigger was easy enough, but aiming in the dark, even with the lights on other people's suits, wasn't. Plus it wasn't like pheasant hunting. Pheasants didn't shoot back.

She shuffled along in the forest, trying to formulate some sort of game plan. She wasn't a soldier by any means. The job she'd been assigned, since she was rather small, was to be one of the people who tried to get the other team's flag. Mary was much better at strategy than at following orders, and something told her that she wouldn't be able to flirt her way out of getting shot.
