WHO: Jacen Solo & open
WHEN: 224603.26; evening
WHERE: Corridors
SUMMARY: Jacen makes his way to his new quarters, with a few exploratory detours along the way.
WARNINGS: None yet

Jacen was about to set off on his voyage to learn about the Force, things his Uncle Luke's Jedi Academy and Vergere hadn't taught him. Other groups of Force users existed in the galaxy, after all. Someone had to reach out to them.

So he wasn't too confused about being aboard a new spaceship. A little discomfited at the confiscation of his lightsaber, but ... well, he could cope without it. He couldn't sense much distress in the area, after all, beyond the usual tensions of sentient beings in close quarters with each other. And just because he didn't have his lightsaber didn't mean he was totally disarmed.

He wandered along a corridor, browsing the information on his PADD. So, his parents and Uncle Luke were here. That was ... nice, actually. They hadn't had much time to catch up in a peaceful setting like this, not with the war going on. He faintly wished Jaina could be here as well (and maybe Tenel Ka, not that he'd say as much out loud), but hey ... he could put up with hanging out with his parents and uncle alone for now.

And who knew? Perhaps there'd be opportunities to learn new things as well.

Ax was used to being aboard ships, but it still could get confining after a while. His hooves unavoidably pounded on the metal floor as he walked, making resounding clacks with each step. He felt little need to morph here, despite still getting a lot of stares and questions about his appearance and species along the way.

He liked the mess hall; he was able to get the grass he normally needed, but also a wide array of delicious human food-the one time he eagerly morphed human for a time.

The library was suitably advanced, and Ax was comfortable watching the holographic recordings to try and learn more about what he was caught up in. Some of the other races in the archives, though, looked like ones he'd seen on Earth TV or had encountered under different names.

He suspected they hadn't encountered Yeerks yet-there was no data about them to be found. He still did not let his guard down-they were so adept at imitating their human hosts that it wouldn't be difficult to fool humans. They could still be anywhere.

His stalk eyes kept watch around him while he read and watched with his main eyes, and he was able to see other beings doing various things in the library and entering or leaving. Not much escaped his visual field in his natural body.

When Jacen heard hooves on the ship's floors, he briefly thought of Lusa Thul, his Chironian friend from the Jedi Academy. He smiled sadly -- Lusa had died during the war, one of many young Jedi victims -- and found himself following the sound unconsciously long after it had disappeared.

He found himself in the library, and looked around with curiosity. It seemed far more extensive than the archives at the Yavin 4 academy had been (despite Tionne's best efforts). And undoubtedly it held different information altogether -- information Jacen was eager to research. He'd begun to realise he wasn't in his own galaxy anymore, but that didn't mean there were no Force users, or beings like them. (After all, the Yuuzhan Vong were from another galaxy and had been stripped of the Force. Could there be other cases like this?)

He started for the nearest terminal, intending to look up the history sections, then spotted the being he'd undoubtedly heard earlier. He raised a hand in greeting and smiled.

Ax was rather surprised that the human wasn't panicking, or staring at him in shock. But, he was learning that many humans here weren't like the ones he'd lived with on Earth for so long. They knew more, had been more places...would have been far better equipped for the war going on in his reality.

And there was no revulsion or arrogance, either, the dead giveaways to a human controlled by a Yeerk. They never could hide it, no matter how well they tried.

< Hello > he said. He suspected a bit of surprise regarding the telepathic thought-speech, not knowing that it wasn't unheard of to people like Jacen. < I am surprised you are not shocked...many humans I have met have never seen other species in the universe before. It is a welcome thing. Humans here seem different than what I am familiar with. >

He raised a blue and tan hand, one with a few more fingers than a human hand, returning the human greeting.

The clarity of the telepathy was somewhat of a surprise to Jacen. He'd experienced this depth of communication before, but only with animals, not sentient beings. He suspected the not-Chironian had special abilities. Abilities he just had to try to learn (eventually).

"I used to have a friend similar in appearance," he told the being, stepping closer and ignoring his history queries for now. "She had a more human face. But I've also met a lot of species who didn't.

"Sorry -- I can only transmit ideas and feelings in the Force." Example: a feeling of regret and apology. "Can you communicate vocally?"

< It doesn't sound like a species I am familiar with, but there are many races in the universe, yes. I am surprised humans are so much more widespread than we believed. > he replied.

< No, it isn't possible, without a mouth. > Ax replied. He had a feeling there might be a later encounter with him in morph, but he wasn't totally comfortable telling anyone he didn't know well about the technology. One still never knew who might come aboard here or what danger it might present. He wasn't making the same mistake as Seerow had, years ago.

He looked curious after Jacen's last comment. < The Force? What is The Force? >

Jacen laughed softly. "Us humans, we're practically a virus, infecting every planet."

He nodded, sensing that the full truth wasn't being told. But hey, that was fine by him.

"The Force is ... it's like an extra sense that some beings from my galaxy have. We can use it to sense feelings, or sometimes transmit them. I guess, most famously, we use it to lift stuff," he admitted. He looked towards a nearby discarded library book and, waving a hand, used the Force to lift it onto a shelf. "Like that."

Not as bad as the Yeerks Ax thought. Although, it could get bad if the humans in the galaxy called the Milky Way discovered interplanetary travel and began destroying other worlds like they seemed intent on doing to Earth.

< That's strange...and fascinating, for any species. I think I have only seen it on what humans call Tee Vee or television. They said it was not real. Perhaps there are differences between the planets, though. > Telepathy wasn't uncommon. Leerans, Yeerks, Andalites...there were a variety of species capable of it. But using one's mind or an extra sense to move things was new to Ax.

Jacen frowned thoughtfully. Television, he interpreted as the Holonet -- but the point was the same.

"Really? It's common in my galaxy, for Jedi at least. I guess I shouldn't use it much, then."

< I believe it's because they are so limited where I come from. They've barely traveled beyond their world's orbit. So, other species besides Earth animals are strange to them. I had to hide myself most of the time because I was stranded. I have a few allies, but I rarely show myself. >

OK, that wasn't entirely true...but in a way, it was. He stayed in the woods when the group wasn't on a mission and kept out of sight, but other times, he used a morph if his Andalite form wouldn't suffice.

< I think it would be quite interesting to spend time in the galaxy you speak of. > he said.

Jacen had no idea what planet was the original Human one anyway. Some theories said Coruscant, but others suggested Humans came from outside the galaxy (kinda like the Yuuzhan Vong).

He shook his head, then smiled faintly. "Oh, I bet you'd love it. Especially Yavin 4, that's the moon where I spent my childhood."
