WHO: Jacen Solo & open
WHEN: 224603.26; evening
WHERE: Corridors
SUMMARY: Jacen makes his way to his new quarters, with a few exploratory detours along the way.
WARNINGS: None yet

Jacen was about to set off on his voyage to learn about the Force, things his Uncle Luke's Jedi Academy and Vergere hadn't taught him. Other groups of Force users existed in the galaxy, after all. Someone had to reach out to them.

So he wasn't too confused about being aboard a new spaceship. A little discomfited at the confiscation of his lightsaber, but ... well, he could cope without it. He couldn't sense much distress in the area, after all, beyond the usual tensions of sentient beings in close quarters with each other. And just because he didn't have his lightsaber didn't mean he was totally disarmed.

He wandered along a corridor, browsing the information on his PADD. So, his parents and Uncle Luke were here. That was ... nice, actually. They hadn't had much time to catch up in a peaceful setting like this, not with the war going on. He faintly wished Jaina could be here as well (and maybe Tenel Ka, not that he'd say as much out loud), but hey ... he could put up with hanging out with his parents and uncle alone for now.

And who knew? Perhaps there'd be opportunities to learn new things as well.

Leia had put off eating for too many hours, as absorbed as she was in reading through the histories available to here through the ship's computer. Maybe it was because studying the history and politics of a world or an organization was so familiar to her that it was comforting in this manner. Still, she had spent so much time reading that she got a crick in her neck and then was reminded that she was hungry when her stomach grumbled.

She turned a corridor, unsure if she had gotten turned around or not - this ship's design was like nothing she was familiar with, and she was familiar with many ships - but she spotted a turbolift at the end of the hallway and headed in that direction.

Jacen thought he should check out his new quarters first. Apparently he had a roommate; best to acclimate to that, since it had been a while. (In fact, had he ever had a roommate who wasn't Jaina or Anakin? No, he didn't think so. All the more important, then.)

As he approached the turbolift, he saw the older woman, and brightened -- not just in his expression, but in the Force. "Mom!"

She felt the shimmer in the air, even her lack of training gave her the ability to sense a change in the Force, and she turned even before she heard someone call out "Mom!" She half-expected - for better or for worse - to see Ben, but that wasn't who it was at all. A frown passed across her face as she looked at the young man who had spoken. He was familiar, yes, but not in the way that she thought she might have ever met him before. In fact, she was certain she hadn't ever met him before. "I'm sorry," she said gently. "I think you might have me confused with someone else. If you're new here, you should probably be told that it's possible that some people have doubles, or look-alikes, for some reason."

Jacen slowed with a frown. His mother looked a little older than he remembered, sure -- but he himself looked older than his twenty-one years, thanks to the Force and various battles. The woman in front of him was definitely Leia Solo.

He shook his head, smiling faintly as what she said registered. "Sorry -- Mom, it's definitely me, Jacen Solo. I know you thought I was dead for a year, but I'm back now. Alive and well."

Jacen Solo, Leia repeated to herself. Jacen ... that was one of the names (the one that wasn't [...] Anakin) that Han had mentioned, wasn't it? After he arrived, when he asked her about their kids. Kids that she didn't have with her Han. Leia pressed her fingers to her temple and sighed. She smiled wearily at Jacen, understanding now what the problem was. If it was a problem. "Jacen Solo," she said. "It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Leia Organa. Who I understand is your mother, which means this is even more complicated." She shrugged. "How about you join me for supper and we'll hash this all out."

He noted that, the Leia Organa rather than Leia Solo, and his frown deepened for a moment. But, well, his mother picked her names as appropriate for diplomatic situations. He just ... didn't think this was one.

"...yeah," he agreed, with a rueful sigh. "It sounds like that might be a good idea, M-- Leia."

"You can call me anything you'd like, Jacen," she insisted to him. She hadn't meant to chastise him or make him uncomfortable. It was just that he wasn't her son, at least not strictly speaking. And her mind was still too full with everything Luke and Rey had told her about Ben turning to the dark side.

"Han arrived just about a week ago," she said. "Your father, that is. That's where we determined that there's some split, alternate timeline." She stepped into the turbolift and touched the panel to send them to the deck with the mess hall. "He mentioned you. And your brother and sister. But see, where I'm from, I've only got one son, Ben, and it looks like there are a lot of other differences too."

Well, he'd like to call her 'Mom'. But he could sense she wasn't totally comfortable with that. And if she was right about what she was saying, then it wasn't accurate, either. (And he'd never known his mother to lie, especially not to him or his siblings, so he trusted every word she said. No version of Leia could be dishonest, right?)

"So, the Han Solo here--" Jacen held up his PADD to indicate where he got his info. "--he is my father? And knows about Jaina and Anakin? But you..."

He paused, biting his lip. So. Ben wasn't his tiny baby cousin, to this Leia. Ben was a brother. He decided not to mention that discrepancy for as long as possible.

Leia leaned a shoulder against the inside of the lift as it moved and nodded. "Yeah, he's your father." She hoped she didn't wince visibly at the mention of Anakin. "That was an awkward conversation. It never occurred to me that there was some other version of me, or Han, out there. Then again," she continued, " it never occurred to me that I'd be uprooted from my life and brought to another galaxy entirely without warning," she finished dryly.

Nat and Jacen
[info]redledgerkiller
2017-03-26 10:38 pm UTC (link)
Nat had managed to keep her circle small. Mainly those from where she was from. But she felt it was time to perhaps meet other people. She had already meet Sirius the other night. So tonight, she would make her way out her room. Steps leading her down the hall as vibrant red hair would be tied back. Her location? The sparing room.

Her attire was simple, grey sweats and a black body suit. Nat was frustrated, upset. Angry with herself. She needed to let out her emotions, and she was going to do it her way. Sparing. Once that room came into her location, she would touch at the side panel. Her hands slipping off of it.

That spear taken in hand as she moved to the center of the room, that spear moved quickly as she came to step from one side to the next.

Jacen blocked with the staff borrowed from the training room, then quickly pushed forward, up, then a sweep at his opponent's legs.

He grinned as he jumped back in response, not even drawing on the Force yet.

It had been a couple years since he had a good sparring match against a non-Force-sensitive.

When her spear came to hit against another, she would narrow her eyes. only to do a back flip at the swipe to her feet. With that flip, her feet would come to kick at the man who joined her private session. But Nat didn't mind. When she came to face her partner, she gave him a light smirk.

Nat didn't know anything about the force, all she knew was how to be an assassin. A soldier, and that's all she knew. That spear twirled lightly as she held it at her backside and motioned for this one to come at her.

Jacen anticipated the blow and spun with it. Staff still in one hand, he used it (with, finally, a small amount of assistance from the Force) to land behind the woman and tap her ankle gently.

"Hi," he said with a smile. "I'm Jacen."

When he came to land behind her and tap at her ankle, she looked back to him. "Natasha." She replied as she came to swipe at that spear towards his head for the most part. "What's your story." She asked as she came to smirk at him for the most part.

Nat wasn't sure how he landed behind her, but at the same time she was a super soldier so anything was possible. Especially here.

Jacen nodded, and continued it into ducking his head and blocking Nat's blow with his staff.

"What's anyone's story?" he returned, sweeping his arms in a shrug (though keeping hold of that staff). "I was a kid, now I'm an adult, now I'm on a spaceship I've never seen before. Normal, right?"

"Nothing's normal in this place." She replied as she came to smirk. A light spin on her toes as that staff came to try and hit his stomach, just to have her frame spin once more, as her elbow came to hit his face.

That smirk landing on her features as she leaned against her staff. "Where you from?"

He ignored the hit towards his stomach, recognising the intention, but lifted the staff to block the face hit, which ... meant he got hit in the face by his own staff. Obviously not as much as by an enemy, but it still smarted. And was mildly embarrassing.

"Coruscant," he responded, leaning on his own staff with a rueful smile and rubbing his cheek. "You?"

Ax and Jacen

Ax was used to being aboard ships, but it still could get confining after a while. His hooves unavoidably pounded on the metal floor as he walked, making resounding clacks with each step. He felt little need to morph here, despite still getting a lot of stares and questions about his appearance and species along the way.

He liked the mess hall; he was able to get the grass he normally needed, but also a wide array of delicious human food-the one time he eagerly morphed human for a time.

The library was suitably advanced, and Ax was comfortable watching the holographic recordings to try and learn more about what he was caught up in. Some of the other races in the archives, though, looked like ones he'd seen on Earth TV or had encountered under different names.

He suspected they hadn't encountered Yeerks yet-there was no data about them to be found. He still did not let his guard down-they were so adept at imitating their human hosts that it wouldn't be difficult to fool humans. They could still be anywhere.

His stalk eyes kept watch around him while he read and watched with his main eyes, and he was able to see other beings doing various things in the library and entering or leaving. Not much escaped his visual field in his natural body.

When Jacen heard hooves on the ship's floors, he briefly thought of Lusa Thul, his Chironian friend from the Jedi Academy. He smiled sadly -- Lusa had died during the war, one of many young Jedi victims -- and found himself following the sound unconsciously long after it had disappeared.

He found himself in the library, and looked around with curiosity. It seemed far more extensive than the archives at the Yavin 4 academy had been (despite Tionne's best efforts). And undoubtedly it held different information altogether -- information Jacen was eager to research. He'd begun to realise he wasn't in his own galaxy anymore, but that didn't mean there were no Force users, or beings like them. (After all, the Yuuzhan Vong were from another galaxy and had been stripped of the Force. Could there be other cases like this?)

He started for the nearest terminal, intending to look up the history sections, then spotted the being he'd undoubtedly heard earlier. He raised a hand in greeting and smiled.

Ax was rather surprised that the human wasn't panicking, or staring at him in shock. But, he was learning that many humans here weren't like the ones he'd lived with on Earth for so long. They knew more, had been more places...would have been far better equipped for the war going on in his reality.

And there was no revulsion or arrogance, either, the dead giveaways to a human controlled by a Yeerk. They never could hide it, no matter how well they tried.

< Hello > he said. He suspected a bit of surprise regarding the telepathic thought-speech, not knowing that it wasn't unheard of to people like Jacen. < I am surprised you are not shocked...many humans I have met have never seen other species in the universe before. It is a welcome thing. Humans here seem different than what I am familiar with. >

He raised a blue and tan hand, one with a few more fingers than a human hand, returning the human greeting.

The clarity of the telepathy was somewhat of a surprise to Jacen. He'd experienced this depth of communication before, but only with animals, not sentient beings. He suspected the not-Chironian had special abilities. Abilities he just had to try to learn (eventually).

"I used to have a friend similar in appearance," he told the being, stepping closer and ignoring his history queries for now. "She had a more human face. But I've also met a lot of species who didn't.

"Sorry -- I can only transmit ideas and feelings in the Force." Example: a feeling of regret and apology. "Can you communicate vocally?"

< It doesn't sound like a species I am familiar with, but there are many races in the universe, yes. I am surprised humans are so much more widespread than we believed. > he replied.

< No, it isn't possible, without a mouth. > Ax replied. He had a feeling there might be a later encounter with him in morph, but he wasn't totally comfortable telling anyone he didn't know well about the technology. One still never knew who might come aboard here or what danger it might present. He wasn't making the same mistake as Seerow had, years ago.

He looked curious after Jacen's last comment. < The Force? What is The Force? >

Jacen laughed softly. "Us humans, we're practically a virus, infecting every planet."

He nodded, sensing that the full truth wasn't being told. But hey, that was fine by him.

"The Force is ... it's like an extra sense that some beings from my galaxy have. We can use it to sense feelings, or sometimes transmit them. I guess, most famously, we use it to lift stuff," he admitted. He looked towards a nearby discarded library book and, waving a hand, used the Force to lift it onto a shelf. "Like that."

Not as bad as the Yeerks Ax thought. Although, it could get bad if the humans in the galaxy called the Milky Way discovered interplanetary travel and began destroying other worlds like they seemed intent on doing to Earth.

< That's strange...and fascinating, for any species. I think I have only seen it on what humans call Tee Vee or television. They said it was not real. Perhaps there are differences between the planets, though. > Telepathy wasn't uncommon. Leerans, Yeerks, Andalites...there were a variety of species capable of it. But using one's mind or an extra sense to move things was new to Ax.
