Morning, sunshine.
WHO: Daisy and Lucifer
WHEN: 226412.23
WHERE: Lucifer's room
SUMMARY: After a night of too many drinks...
WARNINGS: Nah.

If he was being honest with himself, and he tended to be, Lucifer would admit that it was his fault Daisy had been in no shape to walk back to her room the night before. She'd been at the Lounge late, looking rather sullen as she had made her way through several drinks. Toward the end of the night Lucifer had gone over to her and asked her why she appeared so out of sorts, and if the conversation they'd had previously was playing any part.

As it turned out, it probably hadn't, but once he'd mentioned it her expression became even more cloudy, so he'd changed the subject and kept the drinks flowing until she was struggling to form a sentence, or even keep her eyes open.

In retrospect he should have asked her what room she was in or at least looked it up before he'd lifted her into his arms. Instead, he'd gone with the easiest solution at the time and carried her back to his room, deposited her on the bed and then contemplated sleeping in the unoccupied room opposite the common space. And he probably would have, but his bed had nicer sheets. So he unceremoniously climbed into bed with her, a fact she was completely unaware of, and went to sleep.

***
Daisy had gone to the Lounge with the intention of drinking her problems away. It was stupid really because it never really worked, the alcohol dulled the pain for a short period of time but eventually it came back and she ended up back in the same place. It was only ever a short term fix really. She knew burying things didn’t work long term and yet she continued to do it over and over again. It was the definition of insanity really but then Daisy never claimed to be the sanest person.

She’d been pretty drunk when Lucifer had come over to speak to her, she’d tried to assure him it wasn’t his fault but honestly she could barely string words together properly by then. The drinks had kept flowing though so she didn’t trouble herself over it.

In retrospect she should have stopped drinking but she hadn’t. She definitely didn’t remember leaving the Lounge so as the world started to filter back in she was confused as to where she was. The sheets beneath her did not feel like her own and as consciousness returned she realized she was definitely not in her own room. She groaned softly as her head throbbed, her powers causing a strange pulse inside her as she became aware that she was not alone.

She couldn’t remember the end of the night so it wasn’t completely out of the realms of possibility that she’d drunkenly come onto someone and ended up back in their quarters. She rolled over to see just who she’d ended up with, the action causing another stab of pain through her head. When she managed to suppress the roll of nausea she opened her eyes. “Oh,” she said softly as she saw who it was she was in bed with. A little at a loss for words at the current situation.

As soon as Daisy stirred, Lucifer was awake. So he was able to witness her confusion which amused him greatly. "Morning, sunshine," he offered. He had painkillers and water beside the bed, waiting for her, but he wanted to wait until she was sitting up first. "How are you feeling?"

She blinked a couple of times as she wondered if maybe she was dreaming. She tried to smile at him but the action made her head throb again. “No, not morning, please,” she muttered, wondering if she could just go back to sleep. “I feel like I drank the entire Lounge. Did I drink the entire Lounge?” she asked, frowning a little. “And why am I in your bed?”

"I couldn't even drink the entire lounge," Lucifer replied, his voice almost chipper. No, not almost chipper. He was definitely in the chipper range. "And you're here because I didn't think to look up what room you were in before I carried you out of the Lounge so obviously this was more convenient. Alright. Sit up. I have something that will help," he added, doing the same himself.

“I said that's how I feel, I know I couldn't drink the entire lounge,” Daisy said, wincing slightly as it felt like his voice went right through her. “You know you could have just asked the computer what room I was in. But thank you, for carrying me out of there. I'm sorry if I said or did anything embarrassing or stupid. I didn't try to come onto you, did I?” She was suddenly worried she'd made an idiot of herself in front of him. “But I don't want to move,” she protested even as she slowly moved to sit up.

"You were extremely well behaved, considering you were asleep," Lucifer grinned. But then he quit teasing her and passed over the glass of water and painkillers. "I had these ready for you," he mentioned. "Somehow thought you might need it."

And if he was nice, he'd wait to say anything else until after she took them.

“Good to know I kept my hands to myself in my sleep,” Daisy said with a slight laugh. She took the offered water and painkillers, quickly swallowing the pills before downing almost the entire glass of water. “Yeah, normally I'm okay but I over did it last night, thanks.”

She hadn't actually thought he'd been serious about what he'd said on carrying her to her quarters if she drank too much but here was proof he was true to his word. “And thanks again for not just letting me sleep it off in the lounge or somewhere random.”

"Well, it was my fault, wasn't it?" he asked quietly. Lucifer was rarely comfortable with expression of human emotions, and this wasn't really any different. But he could tell that he'd made things worse with her, and that had kept nagging at him for reasons he couldn't understand.

“What? No, it wasn't your fault at all,” she said softly. Daisy had already been in a bad place mentally before he'd come over and spoken to her, his inquiry hadn't made her worse. “I was already feeling crappy, you didn't do that. If anything having someone give a damn helps make things a little better.”

Lucifer wanted to accept that answer and ignore the idea that he and their conversation at the bonfire had anything to do with Daisy's sullen mood the other night, but until she told him otherwise, he found he couldn't do so. Still, his voice was oddly upbeat as he asked, "So your mood didn't have anything to do with bringing up old memories at the bonfire? Good then."

Daisy had a lot in her life to be upset by, she'd lost a lot of people and gone through a lot. The conversation about her parents they'd had the other day had left her feeling low at the bonfire but it wasn't the reason she felt the need to drown her sorrows in the lounge. “No, it was nothing to do with what we talked about. It was because I let myself think about the people I've lost here and then that got me thinking about everyone I've lost back home, it was a slippery slope.”

That did have a positive effect on Lucifer and he nodded. "Well those are terrible things to focus on," he added, not at all helpfully. "I mean, what would you have done if someone else had carried you off last night?"

Not that Lucifer would have allowed it. He tended to keep a close watch over the Lounge, unless he found himself completely self-absorbed somewhere.

Daisy tried to offer him a smile but her head was still throbbing, the painkillers not yet doing their job. “Yeah well, my brain doesn't care,” she told him, well aware how terrible it was. “I was passed out, I tend to become dead weight when that happens so I think I'd have been okay.”

Honestly Daisy didn't want to think what might have happened but she liked to think one of her fellow travellers would have helped her out if Lucifer hadn't. As far as she knew none of their current travelling companions was in the habit of carrying defenceless women off.

"You should try the gym, then. It's healthier," Lucifer said. "Not that I'm in the habit of encouraging people to live their best lives but there are ways to deal with issues outside of alcohol. And I, for one, make an excellent punching bag."

“I do that too, beat the crap out of a punching bag, broke one once, it made a mess,” Daisy said. “I know drinking my issues away isn't healthy, trust me the headache is a good reminder of that but sometimes it's the way I need to go. Though if you're offering yourself up as a punching bag I might have to take you up on it. Something tells me you'd be a good opponent on the mats.”

"Well, unless the detective shows up again, it's impossible for you to hurt me, so it should allow you to get some of those otherwise destructive emotions out. Better than crying anyway!"

He shrugged, and then climbed out of bed. "Do you want anything for breakfast? I might be able to find something that looks somewhat edible."

“I don't know, crying can be therapeutic sometimes,” she said, a little confused as to why someone showing up would make it possible for her to hurt him but she decided not to focus on it for now.

“Sure, food might help me feel better. Though if you haven't got anything edible I could just head to the mess, wouldn't be the first time I've gone down there with a hangover.” Carefully she got out of bed, smoothing down her clothes and wondering if she smelled like a bar.

"Alright then," Lucifer said cheerfully. "I'm sure I'll see you around soon."

He doubted that Daisy would be avoiding the lounge, even after this.

“Oh… okay,” Daisy said, a little startled at the sudden dismissal. “I guess I’ll see you around. Thanks for… the bed and stuff.”

With one last check her clothing was in order she gave him a weak hand wave as she headed out the door.
