"Merlin, don't call me that," she said, giving a more genuine sort of laugh. Maybe it was relief at him not insisting on calling her 'mum' or just the thought that only someone raised with Andromeda would actually use her full name. "Just Tonks or Dora. I'll give you a pass on the bodily harm I usually threaten, seeing as it's your first offence, but don't think being family will get you out of it again. Sirius never did know when to quit, and he's seen the bad end of my wand more than a few times." She laughed again, briefly wondering why she hadn't seen the younger version of her cousin around lately. Maybe she'd have to hunt him down.
Tonks poured a glass of water and handed it to him, opting for a second for herself. Something to keep her mouth busy to let him have a word edgewise, or to allow some silence. She'd never been good with silence unless she was on the job. "Proud of that," she repeated, then took a sip from her glass. "I wonder that you don't resent me a little, or Remus. But then, we'd have left you with good people...."
She turned back to the food and began dishing out their dinner, suddenly not sure she wanted to hear any more about her death. Would it make it less frightening, or worse? For now a subject change seemed best. "You mentioned the Weasleys and the Potters before." She handed him his plate and nodded toward the table. "Good people, the lot of them. Good friends, too. Tell me," she started, allowing herself a little smile, "just how many grandchildren does Molly have in your time?"
