The EU is a special level of nerdery, it's true.

It's really not. The Yuuzhan Vong were...are...a warrior race. They have this thing called the Embrace of Pain, it teaches them to use pain. They're outside of the Force, so the Jedi can't sense them. They're fighting blind. And, their tech is bio based. Not mechanical. It's absolutely fascinating from a scientific point of view. Simmons would love to see some of their stuff.

And this is why you're my very favorite nerd.

They use pain? How does that work? It can spur you on in fights sure, but it's not like we go looking for it. Personally I feel I do better with less of it.

They fight better with it. Pain to them, is normal. It's a part of their culture. Honestly, it's been a little while since I last read them. So, I can't remember exact details. Just the basics.
