It looks like I'll be a part of the council for this particular mission, and I want to thank you for your confidence in electing me.

I would like to take this time to encourage anyone who has ideas or suggestions about how we proceed to please come and talk to me. Particularly if you have some knowledge of this particular world or the challenges the council may face.

[Current Council (Amidala & Harke)]

It looks as if we three will be working together to try to direct things this time around. I figured we should talk together and get to know each other a bit better and perhaps discuss what ideas we have moving forward.

This evening perhaps?

	I'm among them. I would encourage anyone who has that to be very circumspect in how you use them. There's also just the general paranoia of a number of strangers showing up in the first place. I have some knowledge from living in this area; however, it was later on in life, but this part of history becomes a big thing for the town. I can help get you ahead with some of the ones that will be accused because I do remember some of the names.

My advice is you guys are going to have to talk over all the choices, make sure you're on the same page, and stick to whatever goes on. If they catch on to things not adding up, then it could be bad. Also, sometimes certain people will be better suited to deal with certain people. During this time, men had more power and ran the show more, which guys should do the talking around men of this time period. However, if dealing with one of the accused, especially the women, a female should talk to them because they might have better luck.

	If nothing has been changed or anything, you might have a few males, but it's mostly females. Also, the methods they used to prove whether someone was innocent or not didn't exactly work in the favor of ones being accused just a heads up. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

The biggest challenge is probably changing your views to think more like them, and twisting it to slip your view into things without making it that noticeable. Different time, different views than what comes later on. If they feel judged by outsiders, then they will probably shut down. You need to step in their shoes, feed them what they want to hear to build that trust, and then use that trust.

	So we ask questions and we listen, at least at first. At least I think that's what I'd recommend. We figure out what they're thinking, and then we can maybe counter it a bit in small ways. But without some sort of relationship it's going to be hard to do that, and we're all strangers to them - so we've our work cut out for us. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

You need to think of yourself in their shoes to a certain degree. How would you feel if a complete stranger showed up in your world and tried to change the way things were done?

Talk to them on equal footing, listen to what they have to say, and hear their point of view. It's teenagers and kids who are accusing people mostly, and you need to remember that because some want to believe their children are perfect in every single way possible. Men during this time had more power than women, making it the guys the best to deal with some of the ones in charge, which annoys me to say, but they most likely won't listen to a female.

It's a challenge, but it isn't impossible, you guys have to remember to keep judgement in your head or it will hurt us. Once you understand their way of thinking, you can start to counter it and work that in your favor.

The law during this particular time period was extremely unfair towards the accused, and unless you can somehow convince the judges, plural, otherwise, they wouldn't get an appointed lawyer for their day in court. In the case of Salem, the Chief Examiners were extremely partial towards the defendants plaintiffs, and often turned interrogations in their favor, so I can't stress the importance of preparing and educating them sufficiently enough.

I was planning to go out to the jail soon, but I'm about to come in possession of tomes involving local law. It'll take some time to get through them, since they're not in braille.

Not a bad idea. Still dealing with this weird power thing, which isn't going to make things better, but I've got some ideas to bounce off. Right now my priority is getting these people out of jail, making sure no one gets hurt, and figuring out how this all got started.

Also figuring out a story to tell these folks why we're sticking our noses in things. Saying something different every time might cause suspicion.

Matt Murdock has offered legal services, which might help with the jail front.

But I think this is a good point - my priority is making certain no one gets hurt, and then dialing down the paranoia so that when we leave, something like this isn't likely to repeat. It doesn't take the Force to determine that there's a fair amount of fear here - and fear is driving the paranoia and hostility, so how do we dismantle the fear.

The story also seems important - I'm considering sending some of us into the village to start building relationships, but we need to have reasons for how and why we're here.

That might be beneficial. Been trying to understand their beliefs, see if we can use an argument based on that but their book is a bit to get through.

Not sure what this Force is, is it a mage thing? Other then that, we're in agreement. Might be good to figure out how the fear came about. In my experience there's always something, even if it's small.

Me, Jean and Anders have talked to some people. We've gone to make sure those people in the cells have some comfort so the people know my face, but I haven't given them a reason or a story to why so we can figure that all out.

I would suggest getting a couple of people on the inside - people who has left the house as little as possible thus would not be known to the people in town, but also capable to blend in and with no powers. If you want to introduce more than two people, I would say go with sepparate groups with different stories - passing through, traveling merchants. If successful it would be very effective but it's also very risky.
