WHO : Angela Weber and Edward Cullen.
WHAT : Wedding present purchasing.
WHERE : Forks.
WHEN : Friday morning.
STATUS : Thread/Complete.
RATING : PG.

"No, mom. Not that. Bella will hate that."

"No, not that either. It's really tacky."

"Uhm...... nah."

"Oh, what about this?"

"Oh, wow, yeah, price tag. Heh."

Angela sighed and continued to browse through the store. Why was this so difficult? It wasn't as if buying a wedding gift was all that challenging..... for a normal couple. Bella and Edward were.... special. It was taking Angela forever with this, and she didn't know why. She and her mother had arrived here about an hour ago, and still, she couldn't find a single thing to get for Bella and Edward. Maybe she should have come with Jessica, who was far more decisive than she was with these matters. It was true. Jessica had her issues, and Angela recognized them as easily as ever, but she also had her good points too. She could be a good friend when she really wanted to be.

Strange as it was, Angela never thought she would be here looking at toasters to buy for her best friend's wedding. She figured that would happen a few years down the line perhaps. Not that it was wrong of them to get married if they truly loved each other, which Angela believed they did. Still, it was too soon for her to catch up with it all, and she would likely not get married until her twenties if Ben was up for it. For now, all he really enjoyed were karate movies and Japanese food. Would she ever get married? What if she and Ben didn't work out after all?

The frown on her face was difficult to hide, which was why she was glad her mother had wandered off somewhere. It was a bad idea to bring mom. She had such weird taste, and though Angela loved her with her heart and soul, she really didn't want her decorating hers or Bella's house in the near future. Angela had just about given up on finding a gift at this store, when she bumped into someone without looking. "Oh! I'm so sorry. So clumsy of me."

Angela watched him for a moment, unsure as to why she could swear she saw something in his face change. She pushed it out of her mind quickly, deciding she was just imagining things. Of course, Bella and Edward were happy, and they would be forever. Why wouldn't they be? It was awkward trying to find a present for Bella and Edward now, especially since Edward was standing right next to her. If it had been difficult before, it was even harder now. She tried to concentrate though. What would they enjoy? What is something Bella is always going on about? Come on, Ang. There has to be something. Think! It seemed as if she had been giving herself orders all day long.

Suddenly, she caught sight of a wooden hutch that looked a bit like a china cabinet, though it clearly wasn't meant for dishes or plates. She figured if Bella and Edward had a place to put their books, they would certainly appreciate this much more than dishes. She didn't see Bella appreciating dishes as much as some space for her reading material. And she rarely saw Edward eating, so she wasn't sure of whether or not they'd get much use out of dishes. The furniture was simple yet elegant and seemed to fit in just about anywhere. It was a safe bet indeed.

With a triumphant smile, she glanced back at Edward and pointed straight at it. "What do you think?"

Angela was much better at this then he had given her credit for originally. A smile graced Edward's lips as he turned his attention to the cabinet. "It is gorgeous, Angela. Bella will love it." As would he, he'd be able to use for his own books as well. Dishes were very impractical for Bella and Edward, especially since once they got home Bella wouldn't be eating off plates.

Edward started to walk towards the cabinet, a smile still on his lips as he walked over to it. He lifted one hand up to lightly trail his fingertips over the soft wood, before he looked over at Angela. "If you're sure this is what you want to get us, then I approve, but I promise that we will love anything you get us." They may just not use some of it, but he wasn't about to tell her that. He didn't want to hurt her feelings or have to explain why they wouldn't actually use plates.

Angela sighed contently and clapped her hands lightly a few times. She would have jumped a little too had she not wanted to embarrass herself in front of Edward. Finally! She and her mother had spent all freaking day long in this place and nothing. But it was wonderful to make a decision on this whole present issue that had been on her mind for weeks now, ever since she'd received that invitation over the mail. "Mom!" she called across the room, though it wasn't a very loud sound. Angela tended to speak in a soft voice. Still, her mother heard her calling as it wasn't a big store anyway and came straight over to her. "Mom, you remember Edward, right? Edward, this is my mom, Sarah. Don't know if you've actually met her before."

Her mother gave Edward a bit of a glance over, sizing him up, it seemed. She only stopped when she noticed Angela was going a bit red. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Edward. Congratulations on your wedding." She nodded at him, and Angela cleared her throat.

"Uhm, Mom, I think I found a present for Edward and Bella. It's.... Oh, don't give me that look. He promised he'd be surprised." She grinned at him in amusement. Okay, so maybe this was funner than she was willing to admit. Pointing at the cabinet, she turned back to her mother to gauge her reaction. After a few moments, her mother nodded again.

"Are you sure, Ang?" she asked, though she was looking at Edward.

"One hundred percent sure, Mom," she replied, to which her mother smiled and pointed over to the cash register. Her mother then turned and headed in that direction, leaving with a wave and a 'Nice meeting you, Edward!" Angela sighed again and shrugged her shoulders, returning her attention to Edward.

"That's my mom!" she proclaimed proudly.

Edward chuckled as her Mother came over. He nodded to Angela's mother, and smiled a charming smile. He hoped she liked him, though then again he knew it didn't really matter. Especially since he wasn't marry Angela and would never see his Mother again. He stayed quiet though as Angela's mother talked with her, this wasn't his place.

As Angela's Mother walked away, Edward smiled at the girl. "Thank you for introducing her to me." He lifted his hand then to glance at the watch on his wrist, he didn't actually have anywhere to be but he figured this was a good time to make his exit. "Oh, I'm so sorry Angela." His eyebrows furrowed and he frowned, "I've got to get going. I was supposed to meet my Mother ten minutes ago. I'm terribly sorry." Edward had been lying to people most of his life, it just came easily anymore. Atleast this lie was a small one.

"Oh, you're welcome," she replied, a little bounce in her heels. And when he glanced at his watch, she bit her lip. Crap. She was keeping him from something. She totally hadn't meant to! She had no idea he had to be somewhere. Stupid boys! They never say anything about having to be somewhere, and then, it made her feel bad for taking up his time. But hadn't he been the one who wanted to help pick out their present? Then again, she had managed to do it fairly quickly once he had arrived. Good motivation, she supposed. You think way too much, Ang.

With a polite smile, she nodded. "Sure. Best not keep your mom waiting." She wasn't sure whether a hand shake was in order or a nice little wave goodbye or what? It was always strange with her friends' boyfriends, even though it was easier with Mike than it was with Edward, because Mike had been her friend for a good while longer. Still, she remained rooted in her spot, only bouncing on the balls of her feet every so often, nervously perhaps. "Thanks for your help though. I really hope you both enjoy it."

Edward felt bad for hearing those thoughts. He hadn't meant to make her feel bad, really. He had just needed an excuse to leave. He kept his face neutral though, since he didn't want her knowing that he had caught onto those thoughts. "Thank you for letting me help you." He said with a smile, waving slightly at her. He wasn't sure what to do either, but atleast waving meant he didn't have to touch her. "I'll see you at the wedding." He promised with a smile, knowing that he'd probably not see her before then.

He turned then to leave, heading towards the door. The only break in his step was when he needed to move away from someone before they bumped into him. Today hadn't been as productive as he had liked to hope, but he was sure that he'd find a gift for Bella someplace else. Maybe something for their honeymoon?
