Who: Garret and Rorie
What: A Date
Where: Boston
When: Evening
Things were a bit tense. Well, it was Rorie and Garret's first actual DATE date in over a decade and Rorie was pretty sure there was going be a volcano eruption or earthquake or maybe locus that interrupt it and cause everything to go to shit. This was mostly nerves and not experience talking. He was going to see how the date went and give himself a few days before even considering what to do with Mark. That was not going to be pretty and he wanted to make sure he wasn't doing anything rash that would cause Mandy to beat him with her brick bag.
With that planned out, he had to work on his wardrobe. It was full of very dad like things. Polo shirts, nice jeans, sneakers that were not Converse or VANS, and plain t-shirts that were usually covered with flannel. This was not date attire. He was just glad he was staving off the stereotypical tropical Hawaiian print button ups that his own dad loved in the summer. Augh. Digging around, he finally found something suitable. Something he didn't know would fit or even still existed, but it was a step up from polos. Quickly dressing after showering, that olive green button up he'd worn a decade ago in Baltimore was a tight fit, but it didn't feel like he was going to Hulk out in it. The vest was the same, but still let Rorie be able to move. Finishing with the tie and tucking the shirt into his best jeans with a pair of shiny black ankle boots, he felt better.
Rolling the sleeves up to his elbows, making sure it looked neat and tucked away instead of slap dash, Rorie fixed his hair and did something he hadn't done in a long while that Eileen thought he should do. He dug out a black eyeliner pencil and put a very fine line of kohl around his eyes. His daughter said it would make his eyes pop as long as he didn't use too much and become a raccoon. Since he'd just started taking make up advice from his daughter, he let it slide. She tried for lip gloss and mascara too, just so he knew he'd get a good night kiss, but Rorie said that was probably a bit much. Eileen was sent to Wesley's till Mandy came by to pick her up and then he was left with the waiting. God, he remembered how nervous he was now that he was alone, waiting for Garret.
