Who: Nox and Olivia
When: Thursday
Where: mostly at Nox's off campus apartment
What: a date
Nox had been feeling nervous about this second date with Olivia, but it was a good kind of nervous. Their relationship was no longer a secret. Yes, it had caused some terrible rumors to circulate, but others had been supportive. Nox's twin sister, Hesper, wasn't a member of the supportive camp. While that was nothing new, she had brought up valid concerns, things he and Olivia would need to discuss eventually if they continued to see one another, and he hoped they would.
But that was a discussion for later. Tonight he just wanted to have a good time with her. He picked her up as before and drove her to his off campus apartment. They had planned to stay in watching movies and order delivery, maybe even pizza. She looked amazing as always. He had found lately that it was very distracting to see her each and every day but still try to keep their relationship as professional as possible when working. That wasn't to say that they didn't behave a bit like teenagers in the way they blushed and laughed and stared at one another far too much. They ate their meals together most days, which was nice, but it was still difficult to be around her so much but not be able to really touch her and kiss her.
He didn't have to worry about that tonight, because they were alone together. He smiled at her in a shy sort of way as he unlocked the front door and walked inside, his eyes immediately scanning the place for danger, as he always did. "All clear. It's safe for you to enter. No serial killers inside."
-----
The days since their last date, and certainly since the conversation they had had when they had decided that they were involved, had seemingly dragged on and on and on. It was so horrible having to be around him every day, to see him in the halls every day, to have lunch with him every day, and to not be able to show him all of the affection that she had bottled up inside for him. But somehow, Olivia had managed. She had even managed to contain herself through the ride to his apartment, but once they arrived, all bets were off!
As soon as the door to his place was unlocked and she had been given the go ahead to go inside, she pulled Nox in with her and used her foot to close the door, her arms going immediately around his neck as her lips pressed to his in a kiss that was filled with all of those days, hours, and minutes she had spent in longing. Oh yeah, the kiss was intense. And she was breathless by the time she finally pulled away.
"Wait for it." Olivia whispered, closing her eyes as she focused on the sensations running through her body. And then, much to her surprise and delight, nothing happened. A broad smile graced her lips as she opened her eyes to peer into his own. "Well alright then. That's good news. It's apparently not going to happen every time I kiss you." She laughed softly as her hands moved to entangle fingers in the ends of his hair, teasing against his neck. "In that case, may I have another?"
-----
Nox was practically dragged, and then he was tackled! He was surprised by Olivia's sudden outburst of passion, but not at all displeased, quite the contrary. He felt his lips melt against her own. Kissing her sent off the same sparks as before, and he felt the electric current rush through his veins. It actually made him shiver a little, but it was in a good way. And then she pulled back. Frankly, he felt a little dizzy from the rush of it all and swayed on his feet just a bit.
At her words, he gained back some mental clarity and physical balance. Nox also expected to see wings come flying from her back, but they didn't. If he was completely honest, he might have sorta hoped they would reappear. He didn't have much of an ego, but the thought that his kisses might have the ability to make her sprout wings, it was a bit of an ego booster. But it really was a good thing that they didn't appear, however some caution would still be necessary in regards to any sort of public displays of affection. "Maybe the kiss just wasn't good enough?" he joked in an embarrassed sort of way, chuckling a little afterward.
When her fingers scratched through his hair, he felt dizzy again. How could he deny a request like that? "You certainly may." He leaned in to kiss her this time, feeling more confident in being affectionate with her. He'd had some time to get used to the idea, as well as the feeling, so he was less timid in showing her how he felt. Nox could be gentle and passionate at the same time, because there was something very strong about the soft approach. His lips just grazed hers at first, almost in a teasing sort of way, then they pressed to hers gently with subtle movements. His hands found her waist and wrapped around it, one caressing her spine. The current flowing through him grew, and he could feel the hairs on his arms and legs stand on end as though he was some sort of super conductor.
-----
Awww, Olivia would have felt bad if she had known that the lack of appearance of her white feathered wings had in some way damaged his ego. She was actually rather glad for it. If they did this a few more times and they didn't appear, then that would mean that it was safe for her to maybe, on occassion, pull him into a secluded place on campus and snog him senseless. That would be nice. And daring. Exciting. She liked exciting. "I doubt that, but then again, maybe not." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders and then laughed as she rolled her eyes. "There's no possible way that kissing you could ever not be good enough."
The kiss that she had given him had been good, admittedly, but the one that he gave her was much better. She practically melted in his arms, her full weight resting upon him as her arms around his neck held her to him, her touch sending shivers up and down her spine. It may have been somewhat scary and somewhat uncomfortable the first time they had ever kissed. It may still tingle a little in a way that was slightly disconcerting when they kissed now, but there was no way that she could ever not want to kiss him. She was addicted to the way that it felt, and completely and totally smitten with him.
"Mmmm." She had this silly sort of smile on her lips when he pulled away so they both could breath, a deep breath inhaled and then exhaled slowly. Her eyes fluttered open, thick lashes parting to reveal her lovely dark eyes, and then she smiled even more as her hand trailed down to allow fingertips to brush along the line of his jaw while the other hand busied itself in the back of his hair. "I can't recall having ever been as happy at any point during my life as I am when I am with you." The words weren't meant to get any sort of reaction in particular, she just believed that it was best to always be honest, no matter what. And she was being honest. She was perfectly content every time she was with him. And happy. Very, very happy.
"So I totally slept in this morning and completely missed breakfast." Olivia announced as she slipped a hand down into his own. "Therefore," She concluded, "I think you should teach me how to make pancakes." Mmm. Pancakes sounded good right about now.
-----
Snogging on campus?! Nox didn't know if he could handle that. He was exceptionally professional, very by-the-books, and kissing in dark corners didn't seem appropriate. Still, if anyone was going to help loosen him up, it was Olivia. He wasn't sure he could say no to any request she might make. So if she decided to pull him into a closet and kiss him, he'd probably let her.
Nox was so confused by the chemistry that existed between them. It went against nature. But even though their bodies sent signals saying 'stop', it felt good at the same time. He was growing the like the electric current that sparked to life when they touched, and it amped up to a much stronger level when they were kissing like this. While he didn't dare talk about it, he had thought about how intense the feeling would be if they had sex. Hesper had scared him a bit by implying that his penis might burn off. Terrifying thought.
He didn't want to stop kissing her, but breathing was essential. And he would have been content to take a few deep breaths and simply resume kissing her, but she started talking. Her words made Nox blush a great deal. "It's been a long time since I've been this happy." He ran his fingers back through her hair while he looked at her adoringly. "It's impossible to not be happy in your presence."
"Pancakes? What happened to ordering in?" He hugged her close to him and kissed the top of her head. "Not that pancakes don't sound great. And if that's what you want, that's what you'll get."
----
Snogging in a closet somewhere would be incredibly racy and very much against the rules. Of course that was part of what made it so very appealing. Olivia liked to push boundaries. She liked to take chances. So yes, she very much intended to help Nox loosen up a bit. He was so very straight laced. And while she adored him exactly as he was, that didn't mean that she couldn't bring out that more risky side of him that she was certain was simply waiting to come out. Everybody had one. Even Nox.
As for the chemistry, it really wasn't natural at all. But it was addictive. And it wasn't just that though. There were so many things about him that she was drawn to. She loved the way he smelled, the way he laughed, his smile, how brilliant he was, how passionate. She had admired him as a student for many years now and getting to know him on an entirely different level was just.. well it nearly seemed surreal. It was hard to believe sometimes that this was actually happening, that they were... together. Even thinking about it sent a little tingle up and down her spine and brought a smile to her face.
"Mmmm, I feel exactly the same way." Olivia gave him that bright smile that could nearly light up a room as her hand moved to rest atop his own that had just been drawn through her hair. Generally speaking, she was a happy person. She had her moments, her days, where she was melancholy, mostly when she thought of her father and of her mother whom she had never met and thought about home and how much she missed it but... he made it all seem better. And she couldn't wait for her father to meet him. He simply had to come and visit over the next holiday.
"Well I figured we could do takeout later. I mean, it's early still, right?" She gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "And like I said already, you're stuck with me for the entire day. I'm certain we'll need to eat more than once before I let you be rid of me."
----
Risky side? Maybe in the sense that he'd had a dangerous job for many years, but other than that, he played it extremely safe. He was a rebel though. Afterall, how many demons behaved the way Nox did? He doubted many of them made a habit of making out with angels... and liked it.
The chemistry just couldn't be ignored, and he was to the point now where he had no reason to ignore it. Nox cared a great deal for Olivia, and while he was nervous about the repercussions of having a relationship with a former student and current angel spawn, he wasn't going to let it hold him back. This was him being a risk taker.
It was going to be difficult seeing her at school all the time and not being able to share these sorts of intimate moments just as often. He wasn't going to hide the fact that they were in a relationship, because that would be impossible since everyone seemed to already know. But he wanted to maintain his professionalism. It was important for Olivia too. She was a new professor, and he didn't want her image being sullied.
"It's a shame I didn't get blueberries. Those are my favorite kind of pancakes, but the regular ones should suffice." He was going to head in the direction of the kitchen, but he couldn't quite pull himself away from her. "I need more kisses first," he teased, leaning in to capture her lips. Instead of kisses, plural, he settled for one really good one. It was weird how he was already starting to crave the electricity that was produced when they were close. And in tasting her tongue with his own, he felt his skin grow physically hot.
----
This certainly was some risky behaviour for the both of them but that wasn't the reason why Olivia liked it so, that was just an added bonus. She had always adored him, always. And the fact that he used to be her professor and he was a demon and that she used to be a student and was angel-spawn didn't really impact that at all. It never had and never would, even if she were to find out that there could be certain risks involved.
It was a good thing that he didn't want to hide it, not that she wouldn't respect his wishes if he wanted to be discreet, but she had already told a few people that she still considered friends that were still students as well as a few of her friends that were no longer here because they had graduated and moved on into the real world. Most of them seemed happy for her. A few asked her what she was thinking. And there was one or two that wanted to know what he was like in bed. She was quick to inform them that they had hardly been dating long enough for her to know the answer to that. While she was absolutely and completely crazy about him, she needed to be sure that he felt the same way about her, that this was something that would be lasting, before taking things to that level. Not that she was chaste or anything, but she understood well enough how sex changes things and... Well she wanted to be sure that they were strong enough to survive it before it ever happened. That's all.
"Mmmm. Blueberries. Is there a marker nearby? I could run and get some for you." And it sounded good to her as well but if it would be too much trouble then, yes, regular pancakes were just as well. She giggled a little as he told her he needed more kisses first, the sound stifled by his lips upon her own as her hand moved up to run fingers back through his hair, a soft moan vibrating against his lips. Not only were their kisses electric, they made her feel... full. That was the only word she could think of to describe it. It was like every particle of her being was complete and that she couldn't possibly be more, well, filled. She couldn't think of any other way to say it.
"Wow." The word was whispered when at last he pulled away, a smile upon her lips, eyes closed. "I could completely skip breakfast, lunch, and dinner and just live off of that all day long."
----
Nox had talked to people about him and Olivia as well, including his sister, Hale, and even Adora. If he was telling Adora, he was serious. Though maybe there was a little part of him that hoped it would discourage her from continuing to throw herself at him. But mostly he was just telling the people in his life about someone who was now very important to him. Nox didn't date casually. If he took you out, he looked at it as the start of a potential relationship.. one that was lasting. He didn't enter into anything without the intention of putting all of himself into it. He was that way with work, and the same held true for relationships.
As for sex, it was definitely on his mind. But he wasn't just thinking about his desires, he had fears as well. Not only was he going to avoid rushing into things, because that often ruined a relationship far too early. He was also still worried about what his sister had said. It was a pity there wasn't much of anything written about relationships between angels and demons, because he was more than a little curious to know if there was a risk of bodily harm.
"I'm sure there is, but I don't want you leaving to get them." He wanted her right here, with him, in his arms. Holding her was one of the best feelings in the world. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt this good. He felt even better when they were kissing. Even though their races were opposing forces, like trying to push the wrong sides of magnets together, something much stronger inside them held an attractive force.
He nodded in agreement, "Me too." With a sigh, he let his forehead rest against hers, "You're the joy in my life, Olivia." Nothing in particular had spurred him to stay it, he just felt it, and out it came.
----
Fear was quite natural, especially in light of what had happened the first time they had really kissed. If kissing a demon could make her sprout wings, she could only imagine what making love with a demon could do. Actually, she had spoken to her father about that, not that he knew a lot about it, he had only ever really had experience with angelic beings, but she had voiced her concerns, making sure to let him know that this wasn't something that was going to go on any time soon, but that it was something she was thinking about for the future. He was a very smart man, and he had promised that he would look into it, though whether or not his resources were any better than her own, she didn't know and had her doubts.
But all of that was neither here nor there at the moment.
"Good." She confessed, "I didn't really want to leave." She would much rather simply stay there with him, all his, for an entire day, and not have to think or worry about anything else at all. Of course, her thoughts did start to wander a bit, especially when he called her his joy. She smiled, but the smile wasn't lasting, and she found herself needing his arms around her, slipping her own around him to prompt a hug which made her tingle all over but also made her feel quite safe.
"I was just thinking," She should probably explain the sudden shift in mood so he wouldn't think it was something that he had done. "I wonder if that's how my mother and my father felt about one another, if that's why they couldn't.." She sighed a little and nuzzled her face against her neck. "It just made me sad for them for a moment." A soft kiss was pressed against his skin. "Do you think your family will like me?" Maybe it was a bit early on to be concerned about all of that, but considering that she didn't look at this as something short term, it wasn't really too soon to think about it.
----
Nox would have been slightly horrified to learn that Olivia had talked to her father about this relationship eventually becoming a sexual one. He was already nervous of what her father might think of him. Nox didn't know if Olivia's father would approve of her dating a demon. The only family member Nox had confided in was his sister, and he was still dreading having to tell his parents. They already disapproved of so many of his choices, he was sure this would just make his father all the more dejected.
It seemed as though she was reading his mind! Out of nowhere she asked about his parents and whether they would like her or not. Nox wasn't a fan of lying, he very rarely did so, and he didn't want to ever do so where Olivia was concerned. "Olivia..." he started, hesitating a moment. Before continuing, he took hold of her hand and walked her over to the sofa so they could sit while he explained. "You've met other demons, and you know that I have very little in common with most of them.. personality wise. My parents... they're very traditional." It was his way of trying to gently say 'they won't like you'. He hoped she wouldn't be upset. "They don't approve of my being here. I am in many ways a disappointment to them." It wasn't always that way. At one time, he'd been a bit of a golden child, but that was when he'd done everything his father wanted him to do. That was before Nox started making his own choices.
----
The tone that he took when he said her name was enough to answer the question without having to say another word about it, but she allowed him to lead her over to the sofa to have a seat regardless, finding her spot curled up in the nook of him. His words made her frown and, quite frankly, worried her just a little. What if the time came that he wanted to be back in their good graces? Would that mean that things would end between them? She couldn't think that of him. He wasn't that type of man, nor that type of demon.
"Do you think that maybe eventually, if they were to get to know me...?" It seemed like grasping at straws. It was doubtful that they would ever get to know her. And why would they want to? Well, the reason why would be obvious to her but her family was much different than his, much more tolerant. Her father had no issue at all with her being involved with Nox, regardless of his race, as long as he was a good man, and he trusted his daughter's judgment.
"What about your sister?" He and Hesper were close, she knew this. And while the disapproval of any member of his family wouldn't prevent her from being with him, it would be nice to be liked, to be accepted.
----
Nox had made his bed, and now he was sleeping in it.. so to speak. He knew when he came to the surface that it would be for good. There was no going back. Yes, he kept in touch with his parents, because he loved them a great deal, and they loved him, but here was still tension between them. They wanted him to return to Hell, follow in his father's footsteps, and marry another shadow demon. It just wasn't going to happen. Ever.
Nox shrugged his shoulders and wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to him. "I don't know. But I don't make decisions based on their opinions. I choose to be with you, regardless what they might think." He kissed the top of her head and gave her a squeeze. "I wish they were more accepting of my life, but I've outgrown needing their approval. I like being here. I like being with you. That's not going to change." He hoped his words were reassuring enough.
"Hesper? She..." he chuckled, "I think she nearly had a heart attack when I told her about you. And... well..." he blushed, having trouble voicing the concerns Hesper had brought up. "She's of the opinion that... if things get more serious with you and I, that it could... result in permanent injury." He was blushing terribly now. "But that aside, I think she's glad I'm seeing someone. She teases me about it constantly."
----
Maybe she hadn't directly stated that that was what she was hinting at, or even that that was what she needed to hear, but she was glad that he had picked up on it and had reassured her even if she hadn't really needed reassuring. "I know. I know that, Nox, I do." She didn't want him to think that she thought he would be the type of person to do something like that, to just up and leave because of what other people thought about it, about him, about them. If that were the case, he probably would have left already after all the rumors that had been flying about.
"Permanent injur...?" She started to ask, but she got what he meant right after she started to say it and her eyes grew wide and her cheeks turned bright pink. "She said that?" She was shocked, and she couldn't do anything but laugh about it. "I.. that's just... Do you really think that's possible?" She hadn't really thought that it could be something so serious, but now that he had brought it up... "I mean I assume that there could be.. complications but.." She furrowed her brow a little. "Wow."
"It's good that she teases you though." That part was hopeful at least. "It means she's not completely against the idea at least." And maybe she would get to meet her soon, hopefully. Speaking of which, "My father's really looking forward to meeting you."
----
He was worried about her being hurt by what would likely be a negative reaction from his parents once he told them the news. She may not have needed reassuring, but he offered it anyway. Besides, for her to know him, she needed to know where he came from and understand that he was not his father, even though his father really was a good man.
"Yes, only she used much more colorful language when telling me." Hesper couldn't make it through a sentence without using an obscene word. In fact, she was capable of stringing together sentences that were nothing but obscenities! He knew that to some degree, she did so just to irritate him. "I really don't know what to expect. I had no idea you would sprout wings when we first kissed. There isn't exactly a wealth of literature on the subject either. We're in unknown territory." He was trying to be light-hearted in discussing this, partly because it was a bit embarrassing, and partly because he was uncomfortable bringing up this particular fear of his.
"Hesper is... an unusual woman. But I love her, even though we argue a great deal." He was able to dismiss a lot of her slights against him, but that didn't mean he didn't listen. His ears perked up at the mention of her father, "He is? That's a good thing, right?" Truthfully, it made him a little nervous.
----
"I can only imagine." She had heard him mention his sister often enough to know that she must have been quite the colorful character and that her language was certainly to be just as colorful. "Neither did I but, well, most angel-spawn don't even have wings." She gave a small shrug of her shoulders. "I am sure, though, throughout history, there has to be someone somewhere who has dated an opposing race such as this." She frowned a little bit as she added, "I guess we just have to find them."
Her smile returned as she spoke of her father. "Oh yes, definitely. I've only ever told him good things about you. I mean, granted, he is a bit... anxious, which is understandable but... He's looking forward to getting to know you." She smiled as she shifted in his arms so that she could look up at him as she spoke. "He's going to love you, you know? Absolutely." She didn't have the slightest doubt in her mind.
The rest of their day would continue very much in the same vein as the beginning of it had. There would be food, talking, some television watching, a little making out, some more talking, some more food. And the two of them would find themselves dozing off to sleep curled up together on the sofa with Casablanca playing softly on the TV. It was definitely the best second date that Olivia had ever had.
