The ice was keeping him out. That was good, she had learned with Roger that normally people were not willing to try and break down such a barrier. To most people the frigid nature of the substance burned them, but Mara could think of nothing more comforting than ice. Her breathing started to calm down and she hoped that maybe he would decide that she was not worth it and leave.
But he stayed there and she could not see what he was doing. All she wanted was for him to leave so she could run back to her room and be alone again. Everything had gotten so silent too, he was not trying to talk or make noise. He was just kneeling there, doing something with his hands.
The sudden blooming of a flower caused her to jump. There was not much room in her little fortress and she had no idea how a flower could just burst from the floor. Looking back up at him, she assured herself that he was not going to burst through the shield as soon as she turned around. Reaching down tentatively, she touched the flower. It was soft to the touch in the moments before it froze. "Oh no." she whispered softly to herself.
