Hy,

I have got a question. I just got my blood test results back from my Thyroids and have to go to the doctor to get right treatment. The question is, do I have to stop taking the pill if I should get any medication for the thyroids?

Thanks in advance,

Moony

Pill as in birth control pill? Are you hyper or hypothyroid? They're not necessarily contraindicated together (I take birth control pills and Synthroid), but I would suggest asking your doctor.

Yes I meant the birth control pill, sorry. I think I am Hyperthyroidism, as far as I have understood. I'll ask the doctor as well.

No problem! Generally speaking, probably not, but like I mentioned, I'd check to make sure. The big concern with birth control is the risk of blood clots, so depending on what type of thyroid disease you have, the type of medication he'll give you, and if you have any other medical concerns will likely affect whether or not you can continue taking it.

i'm not sure how it works with meds for hyper, but you can take BCpill and meds for hypo. the BCpill may affect absorption of the thyroid meds so it's possible that you'd just need to be on a higher dose. but everyone is different so your doc would just need to work you up to the dose that works for you.
