The advantage of being a vampire was that the king could easily pick up the image of his childe from the lycan's thoughts. The disadvantage, was that what he saw made his blood boil. He tried to shut off the thought of a very dishevelled and naked Anne from his mind. It wasn't that he was as much appalled by the tryst between his darling Princess and Richard, afterall the two having become acquainted that well only secured the success of his own intentions for them, but it angered him that the lycan dared to paw at something that belonged to him by right without trying to gain his permission at first.
Richard's brusque manner of addressing him did nothing to win the lycan any favours from the king. Even though Henry had to keep the state's interests in mind, and go ahead with the plan of betrothing Anne to Richard, knowing his childe's temper, Henry wasn't inclined to make it any easier on him. He touched Charles' arm lightly as if to quell him, with a light smile on his lips, which turned into a sneer as he spoke, and there was no mirth in his eyes, "Why yes, Richard, indeed. Although as I see, you did not need our summons."
He gestured to the lycan to follow him and Charles to a room adjacent to the one they stood in. As the three of them filed into the king's cabinet, the guards closed the doors, leaving the noise of the music and the chatter of the crowd behind. "I have a proposal to make," he said turning to Richard, his imposing presence merely a few inches away from the lycan.
