The trip from the inn to the capital city of Caligland was quite enjoyable, and the countryside from what he could see, reminded him that of his own native land some 500 years ago, when together with Eric they would travel from Skane to Uppland across the vast plains and forests. Godric missed those old days.
Lately, before taking his leave from the world for what he thought would be for good, the world seemed to be in a constant, tormenting bustle, passing by in a continuous swirl of pain and confusion. Life itself was viewed through a haze of deep, encompassing red. Red for anger building like a heavy fist in the back of the mind of both vampires and humans. Red for that substitute of blood sold in bottles, and the one pumping through the willing and so very much deluded humans' veins dancing their night, and sometimes their life, away at Eric's bar. And red for the grief that never left him. Grief for quietude and solitude.
It was in his quest for them that he stepped into the sun that morning on the roof of the hotel in Dallas, and they were denied him. His time hadn't come yet, explained the old bearded man with the kind face when Godric rose up to the infinite place where the light was peaceful and healing. How he wished he could remain there! But instead he was sent on a mission, here to Caligland. He knew what they expected of him, but they haven't explained how he was to manage his task, only that they had confidence that he would succeed.
Godric clasped his hands together in his lap and situated his mind onto the irregular and noisy rocking of the carriage. As the carriage moved down the road, the tall wheels bumped on the uneven path leading to the royal palace. Godric knew he would find lodging there, thus he was in no hurry. As he gazed passively out of the window, he saw a one-floor building on the right side of the road that looked completely out of place in these surroundings. The building had a neon sign "Merlotte's" and looked like what could only be described as a typical american diner. Surprised, Godric knocked on the carriage side, signaling the driver to stop and stepped out.
He might just as well check this place out before continuing his journey. Perhaps he'd find some answers here. "Drive on," he raised his hand, motioning to the driver, and the next moment he was already walking through the diner's door.
He looked around this place for a moment, then moved quietly to a booth and sat down.
