As it turned out, Krishna hadn't been asleep. He had been cleaning up his house after his very pleasant dinner with Morrigan, and then tending to the night-blooming flowers that were close to their harvest. Of course, the night couldn't have ended just there.
Krishna knew he had felt something, either in the air or under his feet, but he couldn't be sure. There had been a loud noise, but it didn't sound as violent as it probably should have so far away. It was easy to put the pieces together once he opened the door and found Lachlan Kelly and Fiona Dunn on his door.
He didn't waste time greeting them. He opened the door wide and went to prepare his workroom, which was really the living area of his little house. He pulled out stools for both of them, then went to the kitchen to heat up clean water and for a numbing tea. It was in no way as effective an analgesic as laudanum, but it didn't cloud the mind and it had herbs and honey in it to impart some energy to them.
"What happened?" With Krishna, it literally meant what had caused the wound or the injury, and not what they had been up to. With the two of them, it was usually better that he didn't know so much.
