This time I'm not going to wait until the winter
Who: Morrigan & Krishna
What: Dinner and wine that is not is is NOT a date, but totally is
Where: Krishna's home, garden, and greenhouse
When: Evening of Thursday, March 15, 1926 (BEFORE the train explosion shenanigans)
Morrigan was not nervous. Why would she be? She and Krishna had spent plenty of time together in the last few years. Perhaps they hadn't eaten together since she had stayed with him after the fire, but they had eaten together before. She was only over complicating things by wondering what it meant. Yet, she had dressed up, in a way. It was all dark clothes and conservative lines, as always, but... well, there was a gap near the collar, she was wearing colour on her lips, and her hair was down. That was about as casually dressy as she got, not that she would admit that she had actually fussed a little over her appearance. Not a lot, because Morrie was above that, but a little, because it seemed that in some very small, inexplicable way, like the plans for this evening had become something more than just wine and dinner. At least to Morrie.
Initially, the something more had just been aimless thoughts that had stemmed from drinking an entire bottle of wine to herself. Now, it seemed like a big deal because it had been put off so long. An entire month, as both she and Krishna had been distracted by Calvin's departure from Hiraeth. And then after that, Morrie had been absorbed by her past, focused on the anniversary of her mother's death.
But now, Morrie was feeling lighter. She and her brother had spoken, and even if there were years of knots to try and untie between them, at least they had started. That had made Morrie feel hopeful, and she was glad now to have an evening with Krishna to... enjoy her life. He was, after all, one of that people she was most pleased that she had in her life. If she set the silly thoughts aside as she was trying to, those baseless ones that had only started because she'd had too much wine to drink that night a month ago, then she could focus on how she was looking forward to spending an evening with Krishna. If she just thought about it that way, those faint, lingering nerves faded as she directed her mind to what was really in front of her. An evening of good food and good drink and good company.
She arrived at Krishna's, a bottle of wine in her messenger bag, and before she moved to knock at the door, she had a thought. The back yard. If the options were Krishna being inside and Krishna being in the garden, she had a feeling she knew what the best bet was.
As soon as she headed towards his garden instead of the house, she spotted him. Being right made her smile, and she called out, "Krishna? I took a chance and thought it was likely you would still be among your plants. It appears I was right."
He looked very much so at home in the garden, surrounded by greenery and clearly in his element. Morrie's smile widened a little more, to the point of genuine warmth. Of course he was in the garden. Perhaps he hadn't even started cooking yet. Perhaps he'd forgotten all about their date dinner plans. Even that didn't quite chase the smile from her face. She was feeling lighter than she had felt in a long while, and for once, instead of analyzing, she just allowed herself to feel pleased about joining Krishna in his garden.
